At your PC menu, left click Setting, Control Panel, and Add Hardware Wizard and get it open to find out if your DVD writer is installed and working properly. Otherwise, follow the instruction to get it installed. Thereafter, reinstall the software driver for the DVD writer. Otherwise, get your software driver download at the Internet, and install it in your PC. Just type at the Search engine blank( Download for software driver Brand and Model of your DVDR,) and choose the software driver applicable. Then, go back to your PC menu, click open your download and have it installed.
Hi there. While you are in XP go to the device manager, look down the list of devices for the DVD rom, click on the + icon next to the DVD rom, right click on the DVD and uninstall it, restart the PC and let windows re-detect the DVD and install it. I also suggest that you clean the registry, download Ccleaner from here, install it and clean the system and registry.
if you can open your desktop..try to replace the ide cable of the DVD/Cdrom it might be deffective.before you open your pc just make sure that the power is off.after changing the ide cable of your dvd the system will automatically detect your drive.if you got same problem again try to consult your hardware vendor to claim your warranty parts and service.good luck
You need XP service pack 2 or later installed on your notebook. Does your notebook detect other USB drvices, if not your USB port on the PC is gone. If the USB prt is working and you have XP service pack 2 installed then you probably got a bum DVD drive so return it and get another.
