Question about TV Receivers & DVRs
Switched off tv and freeview box as normal last night
This morning freeview box completely dead, changed fuse in plug but no good
Have nearly full hard drive with recorded programmes.
Can these be recovered or the box fixed?
usually hard drive failure boils down to files not opening succesfully, or a random internal failure, not a physical issue with the hard drive, however because dish network repairs these issues on a large scale the fix is to wipe the software and start over which means all recordings are lost, unfortunately recovering these recordings is basically impossible... if you often record things which are imperative to your business i would suggest getting a 622/722 dvr which will allow you to download these recordings to an external hard drive via usb, you will have unlimited use uploading and downloading programs for a one time fee of about 40$

maybe a defragged hard drive follow this procedure:
1. Select Menu, Set-Up, Help.
2. Press the Green button on the remote control.
3. This shows the Advanced Information screen.
4. Now press the Blue button which will prompt you with a warning box.
5. Now press the Green button if you wish to proceed.
6. The DTR will take around a minute to complete the reformat, and will then automatically restart itself.
Next do a channel rescan.

The data is no longer being broadcast, and isn't likely to ever be broadcast again. See http://wotsat.techradar.com/news/4tv-freeview-epg-cut-teletext-extra-unaffected-02-07-10
