Question about Zenith C27V36 27" TV

1 Answer

Jumpy picture Hello, This problem just started tonight. The picture is jumpy. The jumps are small but constant and distracting. It also looks like there are brief periods where there are less lines of resolution. The problem exists when we use Direct TV or the dvd player. We have no other inputs in use. The picture seems to jump less with the dvd player. This TV was purchased 12/19/03. Is there any hope for this patient? Thanks in advance for your assistance

Re: Jumpy picture

If this set uses a picture tube then your problem may be in the vertical deflection circuit. Also an unstable power supply will cause this problem. Stargazer

GE 25GT270 TV had a jumpy picture for a short time, then TV shut down. Afterward, smelled a burning smell. What happened and can I fix it?

Check its vertical output section circuit for damaged component/s. Check the vertical output IC.

Pink and jumpy

The reason the picture is pink is most likely the picture tube, and that's what weighs so freaking much,is going out on this set. The specs on the tube have changed, but all may not be lost. The set maybe able to be adjusted, but this is a thing that only a trained service tech should attempt. This will involve going into the service menu and realigning the RGB drives and RGB cutoffs for the tube. If the tube is really bad, the alignment will not work. If you wanted to attempt this alignment yourself, make sure you have the service manual and understand the full procedure before you start, as once you start your be committed to the alignment. This set is worth at least a service call as if the tech can adjust the set, you should get some extras time out of it. Good Luck

My Sony WEGA HDTV Model KD-32XS945 picture is jumpy. The horizontal hold won't hold. It's worse on the lower frequency channels, HD channel show occassional jitters. Is this the digitial tuner...

a leaky capacitor from the sync seperator may have caused this defect..if you can interpret its schematic..if you have, the cap is located before it enters to the drive transistor

Bright horizontal line across black tv screen

Hi There,
If your picture has collapsed to just a horizontal line across the center of the screen, this indicates that your Vertical Output circuit is bad and needs to be serviced by a qualified technician. I hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

Clicking Noise, Jumpy Sound, No Picture

The SMPS (switch mode power supply) is a bit tricky in this unit. Failures in the SMPS can give false impressions of what's actually happening with regard to the symptoms. You'll need to ESR the caps in the SMPS first. C525 250v/10uf is a good place to start. It sounds like the B+ voltages are present by the noise you're describing and that would indicate that the regulator circuit is probably okay. Next I'd check things like the HOT (horizontal output transistor) for short. NOTE: If you don't have an ESR meter the job is nearly impossible. Electrolytic caps don't always show any outward signs of damage. Only by checking their equivelent series resistance are you able to determine if a lytic is the culprit.
