Question about Philips 26PF9966 26 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

Image is shifted to the right when using HDMI input

Philips 26PF9966/37 LCD TV.

Whenever the input device drives the display at a resolution higher than 480p, through the HDMI port, the image is shifted to the right. I've tried various HDMI cables and two different sources with no luck. I thought maybe there was just something setup wrong in the TV that could be corrected if I could access the service menu... I'm not having much luck finding info on how to do that though. Any thoughts or ideas on what the solution to this problem might be would be greatly appreciated.

This RCA L26HD31 TV has always worked fine in other respects... but when I try to connect my pc's hdmi cable to it for use as a monitor, I just get "unusable signal". When this TV was made, hdmi...

Make sure you have set the laptop's display properties to as low a resolution as possible (also make sure the screen refresh rate is 60 hertz) and turned it off before connecting it to the television. Turn the television on first and set to the correct input either hdmi 1 or 2. Then turn on the laptop. When it has booted up hold down the function key and the dual monitor key (either F5 or F8) for 15 seconds for an image to appear on the screen. When you have an image you can play around with increasing the laptop's resolution.

Hdmi isn't working on jvc 52z585 tried resetting it with remote it seems like its locking out other devices for like copy rights infringment

hi,
JCV 52Z585 has 1 port HDMI that support 480p
if your input higher your tv will not support.
There are 2 type of HDMI 480p signal, 640x480 and 720x480.
To seting input HDMI to JVC, you should seting input device to default resolution or 480 depend on device (DVD, PC, blueray etc).

How do i hook up my ps3 with tv through hdmi as it keeps goin to blue screen

  1. Connect the PS3 standard composite video connector (yellow RCA plug) to the TV composite input and switch the TV to that input. Leave the HDMI cable connected.
  2. Make sure the PS3 is off. Turn it on and hold the power button until you get two beeps (at least 5 seconds). The PS3 navigation screen should be shown on the TV. If not, switch the TV back to HDMI; the screen should be displayed at 480i resolution.
  3. Go to the settings menu. Select Display Settings, then Video Output Settings, then press the X button on your controller.
  4. The on-screen instruction should be "Select the type of input on your TV." Select HDMI, then press the '> (solid right triangle) button on your controller.
  5. You will be offered the choice of Automatic or Custom settings. Try Automatic first (if there is a problem at the end, start over and pick Custom the second time).
  6. Press the X button. You will get a screen asking you to confirm the changes. Press the X button again to confirm.
  7. You may get a screen asking for the resolution setting. IMPORTANT: if your TV's maximum resolution is 720p or lower, do not pick a higher resolution. The TV may not display properly or may not display at all (blue screen). Pick the highest resolution your TV can display.
  8. Confirm this by selecting "Yes" and pressing the X button.
  9. The settings list should now read Connector Type HDMI; Resolution Standard (NTSC); 480p; 720p; 1080p (if applicable). Press the X button to confirm.
  10. You may be offered a choice of audio outputs; you can use HDMI or something else, depending on your setup. Confirm the setting and press X one more time.

At this point, the PS3 should send its signal to the HDMI port following restart. If your TV has more than one HDMI input, make sure you select the one connected to the PS3.

When I attach something to my television using the HDMI input nothing gets displayed. The TV detects the input and asks if I would like to switch to HDMI 1 for example. Once the input is switched, all...

That problem may depend then on the HDMI compliant device that you have connected to the TV and/or the integrity of the connection. First verify that the connection is secure from coming loose and that both ends are seated properly. Then power on the TV, then power on the HDMI device.
If you still have no signal the next step then would be to confirm that you have the proper output resolution set on the TV, AND on the HDMI device. Confirm first that HDMI on the device is enabled. Then, if possible, set the TV resolution to 480P and the device to 480P as well. Go through all of the output resolution selections on the device until the TV shows picture. If you continue to have trouble, repost on here ALL of your devices you are using and how it is connected.

HDMI from laptop to Mitsubishi TV worked once and stopped

Sounds like you set HDMI as your primary display device. Try reconnecting to HDMI and use the Mitsubish to make your changes while the laptop is connected. You will need to click the LCD Icon when it shows you the 2 monitors then turn off the HDMI device in that menu. Then select the VGA screen as your primary display device. This can be done with either the displays manager or the optional software supplied with your laptops display. remember to always switch back to your primary video device (LCD) before switching off your PC or laptop since the display resolutions on Hi-Def are completely different than a VGA device as well as the display frequency.
Windows, as well as Bios will prevent your PC from displaying resolutions and frequencies that may damage your Video card.

Philips 52'' LCD HDTV. Has PC Input Issue.

You will need to download and install the catalyst drivers and software for your ATI card from here http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=win7/windows-7-64bit These are the drivers for the 64-bit version of Windows 7 and I believe that is what you are using. With the Catalyst software installed you can adjust the HDMI output to 1080p,1080i, or 720p so your TV will recognize it. Let me know if that works.

I do not know how to work the display resolution

The tv display resolution will automatically change depends on your source/device output resolution and TV inputs used as well. Television component and HDMI inputs accept 480i up to 1080p signal while composite and s-video accepts 480i(lowest resolution) signals only. You will get high resolution signals from cablebox, game consoles, bluray etc through their component or HDMI output jacks.
