A powered subwoofer is an amplifier AND a speaker.
If the amplifier is bad, the speaker will not work.
If you replace the speaker, without the amplifier; it will not work either.

Dv7 subwofer is missing so speakers and headphones dont work. Do i need a new subwofer?

Generally speaking, sub-woofers are not built into notebook computers, as most sub-woofers would not fit. However, there are generally speakers, and there tend to be problems with the audio drivers in most cases if there is no sound for both speakers and headphones.
Within the notebook, there should only be two speakers. If they're missing, did you buy this used or refurbished? If someone just yanked out the two speakers and carelessly cut or handled the wiring improperly, then this could interrupt the headphone bypass cut-off.
I know you mentioned you'd already verified everything appeared to be working properly, and in some cases updating drivers or uninstalling and re-installing them has a positive result. For the obvious, which I've also forgotten to check sometimes, is whether the output is muted within the volume control and mixer.
In case you hadn't already checked out these, here are a few links you may find useful:http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01613382.pdf

As always, the more complete the information up front, the better the potential for a solution. I hope this helps!

Hi, 1. Push the knob on the back of the subwoofer that has the power symbol ( c- ) in. you should see a blue light turn on. 2.make sure you turn the knob on the back of the subwoofer from left to right while playing music inorder to test the level of bass you would like.

I have the Panasonic SB WA1050 Subwoofer and can't keep it on. It turns on, plays for about a second and then the power light blinks from green to red and all sound stops. It is still paired with the...

I recently had the same exact problem and found a power transistor had got a broken lead. The one on mine was on the board that the cord plugs into. It has a large heat sink that worked loose from all the subwofering. I removed it added a wire lead to it and reinstalled it. With a lot of silicone to help stop the thing from moving during use. Not sure if your up to this but an electronic shop could do it. It took me about an hour to repair once I found the broken lead.

My computer have no sound drivers

Hello there
For your speakers to work, my friend, you need a sound card, it could be a external USB sound card, (turtle beach) or internal Creative Labs, PCI card. "time to buy new gallet!"
so start buying a new sound card.
good luck!

Subwoofer crakling sound when playing anything.

Hello Ronaldlora
Happy Holidays

Hi, this is a particular problem for this speakers, and subwofer, it is a resistor inside the sub, you have to fix it in a repair shop, or ...sadly, change for another model of Creative Speakers, for example one good one is the 7800 Spk. good ones.
but like I say is a problem that creative labs is aware too.
