Total system crash, reinstalled windows xp,but now have no sound, cant find sound driver , looked on web, everything has a FREE scan!! what can I do please help

To find the dirvers for your soundcard you need to know the model of your motherboard (unless you have a descrete soundcard ?). There are 2 ways to find this.

1. Open the case, using a torch or well lit room try to find some markings that look like a model number and write them down.

2. Download CPUID from www.cpuid.com install / open it and look under the motherboard section for your motherboard model number.

You can then find the manufacturer of the motherboard unsing google and then the sound card drivers. Do NOT use any driver scanners they are probably malware or virus carriers and will not fix your issue.

If you can't find the drivers using the model number, reply to this post and i will find them for you :)

I am using windows service pack 3. I have also installed audio drivers of zenith. but no sound is coming. I have just format the computers two days ago. I have used Zenith motherboard driver to install...

Assuming that this is Win XP or Vista, reinstall the Zenith Audio Drivers again. If you have any issues then check that the aduio is Ok by looking at Device Manager from Control Panel. This will show any issues with the hardware and the device drivers.

Assuming that you have an MSI or Gigabyte motherboard check the model number and then get the latest drivers from

www.msi.com

or

www.gigabyte.com.tw

My computer not sound, iam use windows xp sp 3 why ?

check your sound card drivers to make sure they are updated. If tall drivers are updated, try removing the soundcard, reinstall and try add/remove program.
SP3 is still in beta stage so you know.
Also you can download the xp codec package and an additional AC3 filter codec.

Audio Controller driver

You need to find out wich soundcard is inside your computer. If it is a brand pc or a laptop just repost the problem with correct model (eg: dell optiplex 800, Ibm 600, etc.).
If not you need to open the cabinet and check which serial numbers are printed on your sound card, or on your motherboard if soundcard is integrated with motherboard.

post all numbers and you should get the right driver.

Motherboard upgrade

The different hardware components on the new motherboard require different drivers that what are already loaded on your installation of Windows. My guess is something requires a driver that the base Windows driver install will not cover and as a result errors out and restarts. I too have tried this trick on several occasions, sometimes it work and sometimes it doesn?t; however, the key is similar hardware. My guess would be IDE controller, video, chipset or perhaps USB 2.0 is causing your problem. What you can do perhaps is boot into Windows safe mode and try to figure out what is causing the problem. In the long run it may save time and aggravation by just reinstalling Windows ?? Let us know how it turns out.
