Hi, go into your menu and turn off closed captioning, sometimes listed as "CC" instead of spelled out "closed captioning", this will fix ya, Happy Holidays, BMW Rider

You should be watching your dvd's on an input and not on tv analog 3. Every time the tv "senses" a signal change in the audio that screen will pop up. Connect the DVD player to the tv by using either the red, white and yellow (composite) connections or using the green, blue, red, white and red (component). Once you are on an actual input that box will stop popping up.

It is most likely related to the Closed Captioning option on your TV. Go into settings and make sure that CC is turned off, or make sure it's set to CC1. What you are probably seeing is the "text" option included in the CC options.

If your receiver came with audio video cables, hook them to your receiver and to either input 1 or 2 on you flat screen. These inputs support audio video. This will stop that annoying flashing between mono and stereo.
