I have hooked up my JVC DVD player to my Pioneer 50" Plasma using component video and the picture is all blue. I have switched the cables to the wrong ports to see if that helps with no luck. I haven't a clue as to what could be wrong. Using a regular video (yellow cable) input works fine. can someone help?
I had experts do mine with a similar result, although it is not blue, it is just very grainy. My TV is a Panasonic, but my DVD is a JVC xvs42sl. Can't get any answers from JVC as they won't ring us back. It'll cost me $40 for a new instruction booklet, but the DVD player only cost me $50 2nd hand anyway. When I used the yellow, white cables, it was perfect. This is very frustrating.

I found the instruction manual for my DVD player and the factory preset is S-VIDEO. In order to enable the component ports, you have to hold down the stop button until it says component. This is the way to do it for my JVC, but maybe if you look at your manual, it will tell you how to make the component active. Hope this helps. Will try it when I get home from work. :-)

THIS HAPPENED TO ME: go into your settings in your DVD player and change the output. You'll have to to guess and check. I think mine worked at 525... not sure, but the point is that you need to tell the DVD player that is it using the component video now.
