come back to us with the exact sequence of the flashing lights as they are the error code to what has happened. Its possible that one of the ink tanks locks has popped open and is fouling the main cover of the machine.
count the number of orange flashes in between the green light. two flashes = out of paper, 3=paper jam, 4=empty ink tank, 6=print head not installed, 7=print head defective, 8=waste ink tank is almost full
The POWER Lamp Flashes Orange
Eight flashes: Waste ink tank almost full
The printer has a built-in waste ink tank for the ink used
during print head cleaning. Eight flashes indicates that the waste ink tank is
nearly full. Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to cancel the
error so you can continue printing. Before the waste ink tank becomes completely
full, contact a Canon service representative.
Canon recommends that you call for service as soon as this
error occurs. Once the waste ink tank becomes completely full, printing will no
longer be possible.
Try resetting the printer like this Canon S450 Printer 1: Power off printer 2: Hold Resume button then press and hold POWER, the beeper will sound once. 3: Hold POWER and release RESUME 4: Press RESUME twice 5. Release Power button 6: When the indicator lights steady, press RESUME three(3) times. The indicator should be orange. 7: Press Power to set data
For 11 orange flashes (Canon doesn't list 12) Canon says its an automatic print head alignment error:
-make sure ink tanks are snapped in correctly http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=SuprtKnowledgeBaseAct&fcategoryid=184&modelid=10438
-place 8.5 x 11 paper in the automatic sheet feeder, anything smaller will cause this error.
-Remove the printer from strong light; apparently a sensor in the paper output slot can be affected.
-Also you said you replaced all the cartridges with new ones, were the new from HP? If not I would definitely try replacing them all.
