Xbox will not turn on

My son's xbox 360 is only a year old. When he tries to turn it on, it sounds like it is going to come on and then a red ring flashes around the on button and nothing happens.

Re: Xbox will not turn on

The 360 was not properly tested before shipped to stores meaning it has alot of problems. It probably over heated(left on over night) which caused the dvd drive to overheat, frying the laser and or more. I suggest returning it to the store, or sell it on ebay and buy a used one. sorry I could help more, but as far as I know fixing this is risky and costly, I would have to say buy a new one or a different console. My son has an Xbox 360 slim 4g. I bought him a 320 g Xbox HD. When I install it and turn the system back on I get the red ring and an e68 error. When I remove it it works fine. Please help thanks.I have...

This is called the red ring of death, what I have researched try taking all the memory devices out (hard drive, any usbs, the expansion memory etc...) turn the Xbox on wait for it to boot up once booted turn it back off, make sure all connections for the memory devices are clean reconnect the memory devices to the Xbox and turn it on this should get rid of the RRod error 68.

My son's xbox 360 console has a red ring flashing

The console has a general hardware failure, if the console is less than 3 years old, and has not been tampered with in any way ie:the console has not been opened, microsoft will repair this issue FREE of charge, click on the link to book a repair, you will need the serial number, and the date of manufacture, these are on the back of the console.
If this helps, thumbs up, if you need further assistance, comment .

**** XBOX 360

there is a common occurrence of total failure in Xbox 360 the 'red ring of death', where three of the red lights on the console flash, and the console locks up. there is a recall and repair for the failure that extends to 3 years from purchase, many xbox 360 have been repaired more than once under this plan, my son's has.
MS will not repair the xbox if it has been opened they will suggest that the failure is caused by any modification, take photographs of the console before placing it in the shipper MS will send you for the repair, they will damage it, you will need proof
do not attempt repair yourself,
