Try running this command "netsh winsock reset" in your dos prompt. to go to dos prompt press the window key+r and type "cmd". then it will popup a new window. type the command and see if you can connect to internet. it might be a problem with spyware as well which infected the winsock or the network drivers. download combofix and run it.see if that helps u.

Wireless lan not working on my acer aspire 4520

The wireless feature (Wireless LAN) on an Acer notebook allows you to connect to available networks. This convenience allows you to use the Internet with network cables, modems or network installation. Acer laptops come with a wireless switch to turn the wireless feature on or off. Once you enable the wireless feature, your Acer notebook can connect to wireless networks within range.

Instructions:
1.Locate the Wireless LAN switch located on the front of your Acer Notebook. Move the switch to the right to turn on Wireless connections.

2.Right-click the network icon located on the system tray next to the clock. You should see a list of available wireless networks.

3.Select the network you want to connect to and click "Connect."

I am trying to set up Wi-Fi from my acer notebook to my new stereo, could you please send me a network sercuity key

hi there!

The Acer Aspire One is a miniature laptop that includes many of the same features larger laptops have. The Acer Aspire One is about the size of a diary and features an 8.9-inch LED LCD display, an 84-key keyboard, two built-in stereo speakers and Wi-Fi capability. Though smaller than most laptops, the Aspire One functions much like other computers. The Aspire One uses the Windows operating system, so it connects to a wireless network the same way that any other Windows computer does.

Instructions

  1. Click the "Start" menu in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  2. Click the "Connect To" option from the menu that appears. The "Connect to a network" screen will appear.
  3. Click on one of the networks listed on this screen to select it.
  4. Click "Connect" at the bottom of the window. You now have set up a wireless connection on your Acer Aspire One.
The network security must be established by you.

Hope it helps,

I have an acer aspire 5920 that wont connect to internet even though my wireless is enabled ? its not a problem with the internet as my partner has a laptop an can connect

Try the firewall settings, turn off and if you can connect than thats the problem, failing that then try the security tab and set to lowest and bring up the level until you can't get on then knock back so you can. Also, copy all the settings from the computer that can connect to the one that can't.

Wireless failure

Power down your wireless router for a couple of minutes, power it up again until all the LEDS indicate that it is up and running, then power up your laptop. Then see if can get on the Internet.
If you don't get into the Internet get back to me with any error messages and I will advise you what to d next.

Can't connect to internet with built in wireless

Do you have Windows XP, and did you install Service Pack 3? If so, you may need to go to the wireless card's manufacturer's site and download an updated driver (or if not available, reinstall the original driver). SP3 puts in a file that is incompatible with many wireless cards.

Internet connection

What sort of modem/router are you using. I had a problem with a DLink which required an updated bios to stop it from turning off the wireless connection even though all the settings said it was to be always on.
