Try updating your USB drivers: just delete the existing ones in Device Manager, reboot and let Windows reinstall them.

Unplug your mp3 player from computer. Uninstall the software that came with your mp3 player. Reinstall the software. Then and only then reconnect your mp3 player to the computer. Try again.
