Question about Canon Office Equipment & Supplies

6 Answers

I have a Canon MP780 multiplatform printer that I am unable to power up. I awoke one AM to find that it was off for some reason, I tried to turn it on to print some pictures but there was no power. I checked the power cord (it is still OK) and was able to hear a faint sound (sort of like a hiss) when it was plugged in BUT no light on display; computer says printer offline when prompted. Any idea what may be wrong? Eric.

Sir,

Is the physical printer saying offline, or just Windows? Have you tried unplugging both the power and the USB or Parallel printer cable and plugging back in?

thanks
good luck

Hi
if its a buzz you probably have a loose pin thats not attached probably if its more hissing like than you have a leaking capacitor that has aged.
try this
unplug the fax and try it on diffrent sockets .if it works there then the former socket has bad contacts get it replaced else get someone to chech your fax machine.
hope that helps lemme know if that helps

I would still inquire about having the unit serviced being its a 250$ printer. Follow this link to locate the nearest authorized service center:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ServiceLocatorAct&fcategoryid=238&modelid=10444
Unfortunately there are no user serviceable parts in the printer this is your best option beyond replacement. If you need further assistance let me know. Please take a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly.
Thank you,
Lee

It sounds like the power supply inside your printer may be fried.
You may want to try plugging the printer into a different power outlet just to be sure. Also look for any fuses that may be at the back of the printer near where the power cord plugs in. This sort of thing can happen if there is a power surge or lightning strike on the power line that feeds your printer. This happens quite a bit here in FL so I keep my printer and other equipment turned off when I'm not using it.

Sorry to bring you bad news,
Carl

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, would suspect a power supply problem. Foremost to check would be the inlne fuse, VDR, regulator transistor and other related discreet components.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

This can already be a problem with the internal parts of the printer that's why its not powering on already, if its still under warranty better have it replace....

I have a Canon Pixma MP780...it says it's offline and the printer screen is flashing 'please wait'. I've tried turning the printer and computer off and on, I've tried re-installing the printer but still...

Unplugging the printer from power and letting it sit for at least 10 minutes should clear the error, unless there is something physically wrong with the printer.

My Canon pixma MP780 is flashing a message that the waste ink is full. What does this mean and how can I fix it?

Have to reset the waste ink counter & replace with new WASTE INK ABSORBER KIT. Only service centre can do the service job.

Unit switched off mid way through printing. Unable

Try removing the printhead and power up again, sometimes the printhead goes out and won't let it power up. If so you will need a new one, QY6-0049-000 aprox. $70.00 now.

No power. Replaced pwr. cord.

Check that the power cord has been properly attached and that no damage has occurred. Also try another outlet on a different circuit.
