No, it can handle an 80Gb. But before you do that reset first the firmware cause it helps your computer to prepare whatever plug and play devices the you may attach to it. or Upgrade your previous firmware to a higher version.

Foxconn p4m800p7ma-rs2 motherboard on Gforce FX5500 system halted

You refer to Master/Slave disks. Are you actually using the Master/Slave jumper settings? Must motherboards and OSs today recommend putting the disks in the CABLE SELECT jumper setting. The problem with the old Master/Slave setting is that the Controller on the Master Disk is used to control the Slave disk as well. This can lead to problems when disks are made by different manufacturers, as sometimes they are not fully compatible. In CABLE SELECT, each disk controller works independently.

Yes, any motherboard that supports "larger-than-32GB" disk-drives should support larger disk-drives.

you will need to repartition the 40gb drive and set the partion active once again for the computer to be able to utilise the disc appropriately.if it has an OS on it i would recommend a full low level format and then using disc management set it active etc.

if this answers your query please rate my answer accordingly

My mainboard is "Intel(R) Pentium 4 2.66GHZ 2.67GHz, 192MB of RAM." i want to upgrade RAM(DDRII(2GB)) and HDD(IDE((500GB)).Is my Mainboard support or not?

Your motherboard can support only DDR RAM not DDR 2.
You can upgrade it to 2gb that's fine.

And your motherboard can also support another Hitachi (500GB) IDE hard disk.

Compaq d540s hard disk upgrade

Jackwan -

Sounds like the boot record of the drive may be corrupt. When you runs the XP installation, you'll be given an option to start the Recovery Console. Go ahead and open that, should bring up a command prompt. At the prompt, type "fix mbr" (With the quotes removed). Select Yes or Continue when asked, and go through the repair process, then reboot the system and try installing Windows again.

*Note*
You might want to check first, make sure the jumpers on the hard drive are set to Master, or Cable Select, and make sure the drive is connected as Drive 0 on the Primary IDE channel.

Hope this helps!

Slave Drive not recog in my computer but it is disk management with no drive letter

A quick thing to try Is
remove the 80gb from ide cable and power plug and set the 20gb back as master.
boot into windows from 20gb 1 time ,
then shut down hook the 20gb as a slave and the 80 back up as master
Allow windows to find new hardware , "watch closely down by clock ". It will tell you when windows has finished and will say you might need to reboot before new hardware will work properly
After rebooting Both should show inside My computer
Good Luck I hope this helps
