Cant connect to wifi

Hello Murray,

The first thing that I would advise you to do is,

Uninstall the WiFi Adapter totally from the System first,

(For WIndows XP)
Right-Click on my computer Icon, Properties-->Hardware-->Device Manager,

select the WiFi Adapter under network adapters, and right click on it, then select uninstall

Next, Click on Action on that Same page, and select "scan for hardware changes",

This will bring up a prompt to install the new hardware found (Which is your Wifi Adapter).

(For WIndows Vista/Windows7)
Right-Click on my computer Icon, go to

Properties-->>Device Manager, select the WiFi Adapter under network adapters, and right click on it, then select uninstall

Next, Click on Action on that Same page, and select "scan for hardware changes",

This will also bring up a prompt to install the new hardware found (Which is your Wifi Adapter).

After this, Press your Wifi button on the system and ensure that it is On, then Scan for wireless networks.

It should connect like that.

Try this out and kindly let me know how it goes,

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using Fixya.

Help setting up wifi on sony vaio fx401

A USB WiFi device uses the cell phone network to connect to the Internet.
You need to find an Internet service provider that supports this type of service, usually a cell phone provider and if it is linked with your cell phone you maybe able to get a cheaper deal.
The when you sign up with a the provider they will give you instructions or a CD setup to configure the USB WiFi device.

Does the Sony PCG-C1MV have wireless capability and if so what do I need to purchase to use wireless capability? I have a cisco wireless modem in the house and have had no luck getting a signal.

Hello,
The Sony PCG-C1MV does not have built in wireless. If you would like to use this device on your wireless network you will need to purchase an adapter like this one:

I recently installed a wireless 11n network and my nieghbours sony vaio laptop crashes (I forget the model). Should I suggest to him that he disables the wifi and buys an addon usb wifi connector?

Could be that you need to update the drivers and possibly the firmware
for the router especially if OS is Vista

Intel 2195 or 2200BG wireless adapters can cause this problem update
can solve the problem, I would check your friends to see which adapter is in the machine, link is for Intel

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx?iid=subhdr+downloads
If you try this route create a restore point
Hope this is of some help, let me know if I can help further

Wireless Network stopped detecting ALL local networks

Hi, Have you installed the driver for your wireless card since you re-formatted?

Right click on my computer and go to properties, select device manager. all of your hardware will be listed there. are there any yellow question marks? these are devices that need drivers.

Your wifi card will probably be called 'network adapter'. go to the sony vaio website and download the right driver for your wifi card
