Question about Nikon D70s Digital Camera

Nikon D70s won't power on

I have a D70's that is out of warenty. The problem is that the camera will not power on. It has never been dropped or misused, just no longer power on. I have tried new batteries, swapped charger, just to rule out these as the problem, any suggestions? :-)

I have a Nikon d70 SLR. I had this camera completely cleaned and tuned up 3 months ago. Recently I can not take pictures. The battery powers the camera, but the shutter wont engage. An "error" message...

Read the manual on how to do a two-button reset. Also: from the nNikon Support Page on the D70::
It has come to our attention that select electrical components in a limited number of D70 cameras may, in some instances, fail affecting camera performance and/or operability.
While only a limited number of D70 cameras are affected by this advisory, if (1) when a memory card is inserted, your D70's memory card access lamp blinks, locking camera operations and preventing operation, or (2) with no memory card inserted, the camera will not turn on despite the battery indicator showing a fully charged battery, Nikon Inc. will service it free of charge.

Broken screen :(

This is NOT a warranty claim. You broke it by misuse and therefore it will not be replaced under a warranty. Warranties deal with manufacturers faults. To repair this is expensive and I would suggest biting the bullet and buying a new one is cheaper and easier to do. In future carry your camera in a bag not your pocket as it will be too easily damaged

NIKON D70 Camera not working after battery change

You may just have two bad batteries, or maybe your charger is bad.

You should have a DC power adapter with the camera, plug that in and see if the camera works longer with it.

You should also have an adapter to use CR02 batteries with the camera. You can buy three of the CR02 batteries at the drugstore (they are NOT rechargeable) and see if the camera works.

If any of these things work, you have bad batterie.

If they don't work, then there is likely some kind of short in the camera and you will need to send it to a service `center or your local camera shop. You might also just take it there and see if they have a known good D70 battery they could try for you.

Camera will not power up changed battery just went dead Nikon D70

Fixing a Dead Nikon D70 - Green Blinking Light My first-generation Nikon D70, which I bought the day it was released to the market a few years back, died on me a few months ago. Without a card in it, it won't start, and when you insert a CF card in the slot, the green data-access indicator flashes on and off. If I hold down the Menu button, the menu flashes on and off along with the green LED.
d70_87x1.jpgAs it turns out, this is a known problem with the original Nikon D70 cameras, and Nikon USA has a service bulletin out on the camera body. They'll repair it free of charge.
So, if you have the same problem, visit this service bulletin page, click on the D70, and you can access a PDF file that you'll need to print, fill out and send to Nikon along with your camera body. Be sure to take your camera strap off and remove the battery, and don't send any lenses or other accessories.
Mine's on it's way to Nikon now - they say the turnaround is five days (plus shipping time).

Nikon D70 will not power on after the lens was changed~

Is this a new or different style lens? You may not have it all the way on and aligned - try removing it again. Just remember to always turn off the camera before removing the lens or the SD card. Malfunctions are sure to follow if that happens. Try resetting the camera by holding down the two buttons on the top with the green dots for longer than 2 seconds (that works with the D80) The camera will not come on if the lens is not "on".

More than likely you have a defective switch, which should only be replaced by a Nikon authorized repair facility, since opening the camera to repair / replace it yourself would void the warranty. If you can't find your warranty papers, warranty information is available from
