Upgrading the CPU in a notebook is a bad idea.

Even if you get a compatible CPU, a faster processor means more heat, and notebooks are not design to handle it. You would risk major damage.

If you want to make it faster, try increasing the memory.

Good luck!

CPU upgrade for Compaq SR1220NX Desktop Computer

Hi
The specs for this machine state that it is a motherboard with
"Socket 478 for Intel P4 Williamette and Northwood processors
Supports Intel Pentium 4 processor up to 2.8 GHz
Supports Intel Celeron processor up to 3.06 GHz (Prescott based Celeron with 533MHz FSB)"
In other words, any CPU that is not socket 478 ( a fairly old socket now) will not even fit on the board. You do not mention your current CPU so you need to compare it with the spec above to see if you can improve it. It is an old machine/motherboard, so your money might be better going towards a motherboard or system box upgrade.
Cheers

I need a motherboard that can use the same case and everything els as the p4vmm2 My case is the ATX with Intel celeron 2,4GHz

you can use any ATX mainboard into an ATX case, they are universal. Your cpu will only fit boards with the same cpu footprint so you need to know what socket your cpu is.. lga775 is most common now. I would advise a Gigabyte EP45-UD3LR board. Excellent board and well worth the outlay.. no issues with windows xp or vista and you can expand drives and ram as you wish..

You'll need to upgrade your RAM, minimum requirements for windows xp is 512MB.
for the best price on ram go to http://www.pricewatch.com
i would recommend at least going to 1 or more gig.

I have 2.6 celeron processor with intel 865 motherboard i am up grade tell us who is processor best

on mb with intel 865 the bigest CPU is pentium 4 @ 3GHz. socket 478
however your MB might require to update microcode for the new CPU.
one more thing: this chipset Intel 865 is obsolete, and intel does not manufacture this cpu type anymore.

Passport 2068 only accepts WiFi card in startup.

When your card is inserted and after few minutes to activate Sw, right click on wireless card icon and try repair.
It's normally working for me 3 out of 5.
Sometime I have to retry.

I have an asus p48vx-x motherboard

you may check
1) your Intel pentium 4 3.2 GHZ cpu socket 478 processor #sl7nb what's FSB?( see on the chip surface, if 533 FSB can use but 800FSB could not match your motherboard if which is not support 800 FSB. that's why no display.
2) check RAM stick speed, try to increase a level, for example 266 to 333.
is this helpful please feedback thanks

So the Socket 478 pinned pentium is not suitable. Advise: Try to exchange it with a new laptop or buy a used laptop for suitabl configuration
