Tv not corresponding with the original rem...

i've bought a universal one too but it's still not working! i used to be able to control the volume with the sky plus remote and that doesnt work aswell... So i'm guessing the problem might be with sensor... anything i can do about that? because now i cant change the tv using the AV button. I can only access that on the remote, the tv doesnt have it! So now i cant play the video player or the video game console. Thank you for your help in advance :)
