Hello and welcome.
Check the defrost terminator thermostat and the defrost heater. One or the other has likely failed. They are located behind the freezer panel.

Lack of freon isn't an issue. Check the internal fan between the freezer and fridge. It is usually located behind the back panel in the freezer. If not there, check upper back of fridge. The internal fan blows the cold air from the freezer to the fridge. When it goes out, the freezer will freeze but the fridge won't cool.

Motor in the backs works lights works small fan inside the cool side is not working when pluged in problem will not cool

Hello,
the fan in the freezer is supposed to circulate the air through out the entire box both ref/freezer. If you take back wall off the freezer and their is frost build up, the compressor and all associated parts that make it cold are working fine but that fan isn't blowing the air and the fan needs to be replaced.

Freezer is cold but refrigerator side is barely cooling. turned off and water leaking out of door on the freezer side

Hello Roxanne,

what the problem most likely is a failed part of the defrost system Do you see a bunch of frost built up on the back wall of the freezer? If you do frost build up,i would take off the back wall of the freezer and replace the deforst heater and defrost termination. A hair dryer could be used to melt the built up frost from the coil behind the back wall. Another part that will cause frost build up is the defrost control, that isn't the freezer behind the back wall but instead in the fresh food compartment in the control panel where the thermostat is. I would replace heater/defrost termination first though since they are the most likely to fail parts.

I hope my answer will help you to fix your refrigerator,

A couple of days ago the refrigerator stopped cooling thought the freezer works fine... both temp comtrols are set to 9 the coldest setting ... ever since we got it , it would make an odd loud clicking...

Hello,

The most common cause of that is a malfunction of the automatic defrost system. Do you see a bunch of frost on back wall of freezer? if yes it's not defrosting or perhaps the fan in the freezer that circulates air into fresh food compartment has failed,no frost build up if it's the fan, do you hear the fan?

Top section not working

If there is a lot of frost build up on the back wall of the freezer section you are having a defrost problem and the coils behind that wall are filling up with ice restricting air flow and letting fan blades hit it. If not a lot of frost the evap fan motor is going bad which is also located behind the freezer wall. Good luck.

Fridge not cooling

Check and see if your evaporator fan motor is working in the freezer. Also, if your defrost system is not working and your evaporator coil is frosted up, you will not get any cold air to the refrigerator section. You should see alot of frost on the back wall of the freezer where the evaporator coil is located. If your evaporator fan motor is working and there is no frost build up on the coil, the air diffuser to the refrigerator section may be the problem. Put your hand in front of it when the evaporator fan motor is running and feel if any air is coming thru. There are a number of conditions that can cause your problem. This should get you started! Kenmore Trio 596.75509400

Generally speaking if the refrigerator does not cool and you have frost on the back wall of the freezer it suggests a defrost problem.
However since the refrigerator started working by itself it would point to an air circulation problem from the fan in the freezer compartment failing to operate. The frost on the back wall without the fan operating would cause frost buildup because the heat is still trying to get to the coil through the back wall. If your refrigerator freezer has a door fan light switch something holding the door partly open would cause the fan not to operate. Look for a button or toggle and manually push it in. You should hear the fan turn on and the light will go off.

Whirlpool top freezer problem

Check for frost build-up behind back wall in freezer. If there is a heavy frost build-up, it's not defrosting. This will restrict airflow to refigerator section and can stop fan. If fan is stuck again and it's not because of frost, replace evaporator fan motor.
