1 Preview the scan and set the resolution down to 300 dpi. Any more is a waste for most work. 2 Save the image to your desktop first, you may be trying to work with a temporary file. 3 open a word document, then insert or copy and paste the image.

Maybe that JPG has very high quality, big size that Word cant handle it, it sometimes happens. Try to put it on some other text-editing software, I bet that WORD doesnt handle that big JPG. Happend for me also :) try to upload it to an image-hosting site, then just put the link in the DOC :)
