Freezer needs to be defrosted every 3 to 4 days

d733fa48-872b-424b-a7d4-ec9c6fab3da9.jpg
Let's Try turning the defrost timer clockwise slowly. 67001036 Defrost Timer The defrost timer is item location 12 in this photo HERE and there should be a hole with a plastic plug covering the hole that you place the screwdriver through. Turn timer with a flat head screwdriver slowly until the compressor and fans stop. With fans and compressor stopped for up to 30 minutes the defrost heater should come on. If doing this causes the defrost to take place simply replace the defrost timer. If not then please let me know and I will instruct you on how to change the=> 67001794 Defrost Heater Assembly and the 12001937 Defrost Thermostat Thanks Sea Breeze

I can't find the wiring diagram for my whirlpool refridgerator.... MOD.#ET19RKXFN01 SER.#EG3222178. Can you please help. I need to change the defrost timer.....Thanks

I will try to locate a wiring diagram for your model ET19RKXFN01 but to change the defrost timer you will only need to know its location. Here is a link to the repair parts=> ET19RKXFN01_Repair_Parts_List
Go to page 5 of the repair parts list and you will see item number 4 Then on page 6 of the parts list you will see the timer part number beside the item 4. That is your defrost timer part number 2193084 Defrost Timer
11_30_2012_6_26_54_am.jpg

Your refrigerator is an older model and may have the wiring digram in a packet behind the kick plate in the front near floor. Changing the defrost timer will not require use of a wiring diagram. Simply remove the old timer and replace the new defrost timer by plugging it into the wiring harness. The defrost timer can be found behind the control panel inside the fresh food compartment where the controls are located above the top shelf. If you have questions just let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze

Fridge stopped cooling but freezer works what could it be

Most likely the=> WR09X10041 Defrost Timer
8_16_2012_6_32_05_pm.jpg

found inside the fresh food section and behind the control panel. Click HERE for the location. Part location number 648 is the defrost timer. Location number 618 is the=> WR51X10038 Defrost Heater Assembly
8_16_2012_6_39_15_pm.jpg
If you change the defrost heater then you should also change the WR50X10071 Defrost Thermostat
8_16_2012_6_44_55_pm.jpg

and that is the location number 620 found HERE First I want you to try turning the defrost timer slowly clockwise until compressor and fans stop. Leave like this up to about 30 minutes. You should hear crackling and sizzle noise inside the freezer. If after 30 minutes the compressor and fans do not restart this will indicate the defrost timer and that part will need replaced. Try that first and let me know what happens. I will be here to answer questions if you like, Thanks Sea Breeze

DOES NOT RUNNING AFTER DEFROST HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM

I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to say but if your machine is running, goes into defrost, then stops, then the defrost timer is getting stuck and needs to be replaced. Is the timer a mechanical timer or an electronic board?

Without doing the minimal setting test to see if a time clock works how do you test a time clock with defrost termination the x terminal

8145-20 is 240Volt defrost timer:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Paragon-timers-and-manuals.html#8045

You are testing the 8145-20 timer.
The timer dial should rotate continuously. Trippers on dial rotate around. When they reach the trip switch, the timer starts the defrost cycle.
Terminal 3 has power during defrost cycle.
Terminal 4 has no power during defrost cycle.
With 240Volt timer, terminals 1 and 2 and N and X test for live power to ground at all times.

The limit switch is connected to terminal X and to terminal N.
During the defrost cycle, the limit switch measures the pressure or temperature.
When pressure or temperature reaches the set point, the limit switch closes the circuit and this trips the solenoid inside timer. The solenoid turns off the timer relay, and the defrost cycle ends.
At this point the timer turns off the defrost, and sends power to the refrigeration.
Terminal 3 has no power during refrigeration cycle. (The opposite of defrost cycle).
Terminal 4 has power during refrigeration cycle.
Test these terminals for power to ground. One or the other should have power at all times, but not both.

If timer will not enter defrost cycle, make sure the X-3596 trippers are not worn down.
Disconnect the wire to terminal X and see if defrost cycle will start.
Test terminals 3 and 4 again and see if removing wire from X caused a change.

I don't have an owners manual and want to know where I should set the freezer to avoid unnecessary ice build-up. Also is there a setting for defrost?

Click Here for your user manual=> MQU1556AEW.pdf The settings for defrost should come automatically every 12 hours. You may test the defrost timer that appears to be behind the kick plate at base and front bottom of refrigerator by removing the kick plate first and using a flathead screwdriver turn slowly clockwise until compressor stops. After a few minutes you should be able to hear a crackling noise or sizzle by opening the door and listening. Leave the timer like that for up to 35 minutes and if the freezer does not start on its own the the timer is not working properly and will need replaced. Click Here=> MQU1556AEW Unit parts number 15 in photo is defrost timer. The defrost timer is part number=> 4357124 Defrost Timer Check for air leaks around door seal as this will cause the same symptoms. If by chance the defrost timer works and the defrost does not then let me know here or here=> Appliance 911 The only other parts are the defrost heater number 16 in photo MQU1556AEW Unit Parts and part number for defrost heater is Click Here=> 8201749 If you change the defrost heater it is always good to replace the defrost thermostat number 18 in MQU1556AEW Unit Parts The defrost thermostat is part number=> 1-81801-001 The most likely problem is the defrost timer but I needed to cover every possibility. Food thawed, freezer running. I moved packages from in front of air ways and turned thermostat to coldest setting & it didn't change anything, freezer still at 32-33 degrees. help

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air
check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

I changed the defrost timer and is not getting cool.

Give it time. The defrost timer may be in defrost mode. If your machine has been off for a while it will take a day for it to get kosher.

Defrost solution didn't last....

If it does not defrost after turning the timer then the problem is further into the defrost circuit. If it does defrost when you turn the timer and that is the only time it does defrost replace the timer.
