Microsoft has the UAA, and after rebuilding a couple of computers and having no sound I keep this program very close. Download it, install it and the computer will suddenly see that you have a sound device that needs drivers.

Hi
Check the device manager if the sound card drivers are installed.

Right click on my computer and select manage. then on the left side of the window click on the device manager note any ! or ? Marks and look for the sound device.

if you don't have my computer icon on desktop you can open it from start menu - > right click my computer.

You can download the drivers from ASUS WEB site. Select your model laptop, and make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers that matches your Windows operating system. Please click on this link to their WEB support site: -

Have you tried reinstalling motherboard drivers. Sound drivers should be part of motherboard drivers, so if you reinstall them everything should work fine. If not please post back here. I hope this helps, Yannick

NO SOUND - MOTHERBOARD ASUS P5S800-VM

According to specs the sound is " SIS964 " go to device driver and check to see if sound drivers installed if they are not it will have yellow mark on them.
Try downloading M/soft UAA drivers first and install them a lot of on board sound require them
then when installed go to drivers again and update sound one will go on net and download and install them
I have had boards that said one type of sound but used another driver to get working

M2a-vm mother board

Hi auriaskate,
Currently you are using the onboard PCI video adapter. This graphics adapter uses you're system memory to function.
If there is a problem with you're system memory the beeps can lead one to think there is a problem with the onboard video.
You can not remove the onboard adapter so there may be a problem with you're system memory. (I doupt you're memory is bad) but on the other hand it might not be fully installed correctely. Power off the PC & unplug the power cord from the PC.
Please remove you're system memory & firmly reseat it.
Plug the power cord back in. Start the PC & listen for any beeps except the 1 normal beep known as P.O.S.T = Power on self test. Any beeps after that there is a problem with a device connected to the board.
You're Asus M2A-VM uses an Award bios. Click on the link below to see what Award beeps mean.
http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm

Try the memory reseat & check. Let me know if this helped.

No sound device in Sounds and Audio Devices after Realtek Sound Driver install

Download the attachment I found, unpack it into your folder of choice.
Then move over to the control panel and select that "PCI Device". Rightclick and install the audio bus drivers I provided for the PCI Device. During installation Windows should find something like Microsoft UAA Bus driver, I don't know the exact name. Do a restart after installation and everything should work fine.
