Question about Optoma EP737 Multimedia Projector

Blinking Temp Light on Optoma EP737

Have an Optoma EP737 that I've had about 3 years with casual use attached to a ceiling mount. I replaced the bulb in October with a new Optoma brand bulb.

I turned the projector on this week and the TEMP light blinked for a few seconds and the projector turned off. Have tried several times to no avail.

Have a call in to Optoma and waiting to hear back, but know they'll ask me to send it in. Anyone have any suggestions on a "do it yourselfer" to fix the problem? Thanks!

SOURCE: Upside down projection

Download the latest display driver for your video card. If you are using ATI vc's then download and install the Catalyst Application which will allow you to rotate the screen orientation .

SOURCE: on my optoma H77 I am replacing a burnt out bulb

clean out the projector with canned air to get rid of the dust that could be causing it to overheat. also make sure the fans are spinning. if it still blinks, replace the temp sensor. if it overheats alot, the sensor will wear out from excessive heat.

By what you have told me, the lamp possibly may have blown, so check if the product is still under warranty as you may be able to claim another lamp at no cost what-so-ever! It is however a definite code to tell you something is wrong! Hope this helps ;) ZKhan

Yes, if bulb was low price and was installed in old lamp casing then it is bulb that is not good and creating too much heat that exhaust fan can't throw out to make projector cool enough so temp sensor activates and send over heat signal to system control chip thus projector shuts down.
Please install original lamp that comes with casing to solve this issue.
If lamp was original then check exhaust fan that might be running slowly due to stiffness in bearing so temp sensor finds over temp in projector.
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.

Can the Optoma EP739 be ceiling mounted and projected upside down? what are the steps to do so? also, what would be the best mount for said projector?

Mine has been in place for about three years. Because the ceiling was open I was able to create a connection for a tripod head on the ceiling and then using a STRONG tripod head and some small bolts (longer than the originals) I mounted an external base and with the tripod head fitting dttached to the projector it just became a matter of running the various connector cables from the sources I use that require projection to my wall.

Blinking tem light on optima ezpro 737

Its likely to be one of the fans at the front of the projector thats running slow or not at all. I had to take mine out and soak in WD40 dry and replace - all works now. The light will come on even if the projector is cool if it detects a slow running fan.

High temp light on when powering up

Remove the screws and check out the fan's working state.
EP759 have one big 92mm fan for the lamp, and three small, near 40mm, fan's for the optics.

Power of the bulb is very high, so just 1 broken fan can make that situation.

Optoma H56 - turns off just after start up.

It's not a short, the blub is near the end of it's life ~ the optoma is designed to detect when the blub is about to blow and shuts itself down. Turning the projector upside down or right side up usually only gives you a brief reprieve (some have reported a modest amount of extra time gained) on the blub ~ but in the end it's on it's way out and the projector will shut down again.
