27.5 volt charging voltage

Just replaced batteries on my APC Back-UPS Pro 1400. The old ones were buldged. Now the new ones are charging at 27.5 volts. That seems a little high?

No, that right. The batteries are wires in series so the voltage is 24v and they need a little high input than that to charge correctly.

SOURCE: APC Smart UPS 1500 will not start.

It could be that the cable to the front-panel got damaged during the battery replacement.  After all these years you would think APC would improve that aspect of their design.  All I can suggest is inspecting the cable and where it connects to the front panel.

it seems that the inverter circuit of your UPS is dying. the solution here is you have to open up the UPS and check the inverter circuit. to make easier, check the power mosfet if its leaking.

SOURCE: Any schematics available for a APC Back-UPS Pro

hi, i don't have the schematic but, i think if you connected the batteries okay and had switched off the machine then it should work. when switching on there are two sounds that come, first its a beep, if you release the ON SWITCH the UPS will just do a self test then shutdown. to switch ON the UPS completely don't release the on button until you hear a second beep, if you release the ON switch when this beep is on, then the UPS will be ON completely.

APC BACK-UPS ES 500VA fails to provide back up during power failure

Get APC Powerchute Personal Edition for free and run it. If it says your battery isnt charged, check its voltage disconnected. Charge it with a car battery charger and see if its still a good battery. If not , replace it. If the battery is good, then check the charging voltage. Should be about 14 volts. if not, check the small transformer on the main board. Should be 120 in and 17 to 18 out. 4 diodes in a bridge for charge. The input to the transf has small fuse into it alone.

How to extract batteries from an APC Smart UPS 1400

greg milton, Hi, Did you get the top cover off of the "1400" battery back-up? How old were the batteries in the unit? My APC 1250 has two 12v 18ah units inside. It's best to replace batteries every 3 to 5 years! 12fixlouie

Ups does not power up. the power indication light does not light.

Depending upon how old your UPS is, it may need new batteries. To get help, you will have to contact APS or if you have a local Batteries Etc or other battery retail store that can check the unit for you. Without checking the battery condition and running diagnostics, there is not a lot that can be done to give you a better solution.
Hope this helps.
Let me know what you find out. Thanks.

APC BACK-UPS PRO 1100VA 120V does not cold start.

When was the last time you replaced the batteries? These units will not start with old / failed batteries connected, or without batteries connected.

If you have a voltmeter, check the batteries. Your unit should have two batteries harnessed together. if you check the individual battery, you should see just over 13 volts, together should be around 26 volts. if you see less than 12.5 volts, that would be why the unit will not start.

You will have to replace the batteries if that is the case. Your BP1100 takes an RBC 7: moz-screenshot-1.pnghttp://www.refurbups.com/APC-RBC7-Compatiblemoz-screenshot.png

After a power outage my apc has this clicking sound. every 4 seconds or so it sounds like it clicks and then a slightly different click 4 seconds later. However, when everything is powered up it doesn't...

I found this on the APC website;
Question: What would cause a Back-UPS Pro, a Back-UPS Pro USB, a Back-UPS RS, a Back-UPS CS, a Back-UPS LS, or A Back-UPS XS to beep once every 5 seconds with no output power?
Answer: One beep every 5 seconds is an indication that the UPS has entered what is called "Low Voltage Sleepmode".
The Back-UPS product has transferred to battery power due to a low voltage condition at the wall. The Back-UPS has remained Onbattery until its runtime was totally exhausted, however, there was still enough voltage present at the wall to trickle charge the battery.

This is considered to be a normal operating state. When the voltage returns to normal the Back-UPS will wake up and restore power to the battery outlets.

Ensure proper input voltage coming in the location.

Ensure the working condition of the UPS Button switch.

If this APC UPS is 2 to 3 years old, better replace the Battery 7 Volts - 1 Number and check the problem.

If the problem persists, Please contact local authorized UPS Dealer Engineer to settle this issue.

Apc 1400

Batteries in the UPS typically last 3 to 5 years and it depends upon several factors. including the number of times the unit must go on battery power and environmental conditions. There are usually several batteries in the UPS and while the battery voltage may show 13 volts, this may only be a float charge/voltage and a true indication of the battery voltage and condition requires the batteries to be tested under a load. There maybe one battery in a set of batteries that is faulty and causes the whole battery system to fail and indicate a battery fault.
The other possibility is the charging circuit may be faulty.
