You're right, it doesn't - complain to Epson - they just couldn't be bothered to produce a Vista-compatible Status Monitor for such an old printer! That's the way it is I'm afraid. If you love your printer, go back to XP.

Hey John - have you ever heard the phrase "don't shoot the messenger!". It's tough to get a kick because I've told you something you don't want to hear.

Anyway, you could try the SSC utility -

    http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

It doesn't claim to work under Vista, but various users say it does OK

Upgraded to Vista; can't change toner; no status monitor

apparently your driver isn't compatible or iwas corrupted by the install of vista.
Here is a link to download a clean driver try installing it and see if your printer works.

Epson c60 printer not compatable with windows vista need a driver but have no idea where to download it

The driver for the Epson C60 printer is included with Vista - all you need to do is connect the printer to the computer with Vista running and turn it on. If you have already done this and the printer does not work properly (but see the info about the Status Monitor below), turn the printer off, uninstall the printer using the Control Panel-Programs and Features-Epson Printer Software, then reboot the computer. Once Vista is running, turn the printer on and it should then install OK.

HOWEVER, the printer Status Monitor (SM) is not included in this process and if you try to install the XP version of the SM, it will not work. Epson appears to have no intention of remedying this problem. This means you have no means of monitoring your ink levels, nor of changing the cartridges, cleaning the heads etc via the computer, although some of these tasks can be carried out via the printer control panel (see your hand book on how to do this).

A good solution is to use the free SSC utility as your SM - download from:

http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

Install it, and double click the ssc printer icon in the bottom right corner (System Tray). Choose Configuration and set your printer type (C60), then close the ssc window. Now right click the ssc icon in the sytem tray and choose the SM function you wish to use.

If you have any further queries on this, please post a new comment.

Epson Stylus Photo R200 and R320 Status monitor in Vista

I was able to install the original XP status monitor from the CD, onto Windows Vista Home Premium.

On the install cd, you need to open the 'STM3' folder under whatever language you are installing, 'English' in my case. There are several .exe files in that folder:

E_S1LAC2.EXE
E_SCHK02.EXE
E_SIINS2.EXE
E_SPSU02.EXE
STMSETUP.EXE
For each of these, right click on the file, and choose 'Properties'. Under the 'Compaitbility' tab, choose 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' - Windows XP (Service Pack 2).

Then run the 'STMSETUP.EXE' file, and it should install properly, and work. Although I cannot guarantee that it will work on your system, or that it will not have any negative effects on your computer.

So far, I have not had any trouble with it.

First i downloaded the status 3 monitor so that i could fiddle with the programs and files inside from this link here

http://driverscollection.com/?file_id=24410

Ill skip right to the part on how to fix it you extract the file you just downloaded open the folder it went to right click E_SIINS2 with a bandaid icon goto properties then click compatibility at the top of the new window that opened check the box run this program in compatibility mode for: then in the drop down box below that windows xp (service pack 2) also i checked at the bottom run this program as an administrator and boom it worked i can see my ink and everything.

Epson C60 Stylus Status Monitor Does Not Work On Windows Vista

I ve been having the same problem with my Epson 1290 and Windows Vista! It works fine but I cant get the status info on my ink levels. Its so annoying when u run out of ink the LED on the printer goes on but you dont know whick cartridges to replace! I hope Microsoft and Epson get this sorted out because it so annoying and I end up spending more money on inks than needed! I read someone had similar problem, installed the 1290 M driver (via Vistas set drivers) but it didnt work for me!

any other suggestions?

Epson C60 Stylus Status Monitor Does Not Work On Windows Vista

-As the driver is part of Windows Vista, there is no Status Monitor available for your printer. Some printers may have an INK LEVELS options included as part of the resident driver. Otherwise, the printer does have its own indicators. The RED error light will flash when the printer is low on ink and go solid when it is out.

-If the ink levels do not appear, click GET INK LEVELS from the MAIN tab of the printer driver. Ensure the printer is directly connected to the computer as the Ink Levels does rely on full bidirectional communication.

"Change cartridge" light stay's on after replacement

What exactly does the status monitor say? Your printer may have a problem with the counter or if the machine simply does not see the cart there could be an issue with the print head or the main board.
