On the top load models, you need to remove the washer's 3-sided cabinet and then the pump is secured by two clips to the motor.
To remove the cabinet, open the control panel up, then find the two retainer straps that hold the cabinet in place. Pop them out with a screwdriver and pull the cabinet back and up. The pump is in he center by the floor, you can't miss it...

most likely you have a sock or, some cloth obstructing the pump.
you will have to bail out the water then: remove the Sears 700 series 4screws holding the washer's control panel and, remove the washer side clips under the panel to remove the washer's sides then remove the 8 pump screws to remove the pump face and, remove the obstruction. the

Washer wont pump out water, pump smells like it is overheating

SOME KENMORE WASHERS HAVE A FILTER ON THE PUMP YOU CAN CLEAN OUT. YOU FIRST HAVE TO REMOVE THE BOTTOM PANEL ON THE FRONT. THERE ARE 3 SCREWS ON THE BOTTOM WITH THE PANNEL REMOVED YOU WILL SEE A ROUND DISK THAT YOU CAN UNSCREW AND REMOVE, BUT REMEMBER YOU HAVE WATER IN THE MACHINE SO HAVE YOUR SHOP VAC READY AND SOME TOWELS!!!!

Whether this is a TOP LOADER, or a FRONT LOADER, the drain pump is located directly below the wash tub in the front of the washer. Accessing either one takes, different procedures, however.

To access the pump on a TOP LOADER, you must remove the exterior washer casing. Follow the steps provided in this link:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3631789-washer_case_removal_whirlpool_top

If this is a FRONT LOADER, you must remove the lower toe panel directly below the door. Follow the steps provided in this link:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3574350-replacing_the_drain_pump_in_a_front_load

The Kenmore Oasis is a different configuration from the two I've mentioned. There are two pumps on the Oasis. One is a drain pump, while the other is a recirc pump. Both are accessible by removing the rear panel of the washer.

If you require further assistance, please post back with a complete model number so I can determine how your washer is configured. I hope you find this information helpful.

70 Series Kenmore washer pouring water underneath washer.

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Check the areas for the motor and pump and the Agitator Basket and Tub .

If you've checked the hoses to and from the pump the problem points to either the pump itself or to the Centerpost gasket.

Neither of these is too difficult to replace, the Gasket requires removing most parts of the washer although the pump is an easy replacement.

Kenmore washer model 70 leaking

More than likely the pump. Very easy fix. To keep from being redundant I prepared a page on direct drive coupling removal and replacement. The pump must be removed to fix this item therefore it pertains to your problem. Plus you can watch for leaks better with the cabinet removed. To read click HERE.
