Make sure you haven't used ethanol-blended gas in a briggs small engine. It will destroy the plastic internal carb pieces, thereby causing your carb to leak gas into the crankcase and flooding out the engine. If you check your gas it will be really thinned out, gassy smelling and black. It will also be overfilled.

The carbs are plugged. Take the bowl off the carburetor by loosening the nut on the bottom. You'll want to clamp the fuel line before you do this. That nut has a small hole that goes through the nut from side to side, and one that connects them in the center. Use a wire brush to knock all the deposits loose, making sure that the holes are clean and free of obstruction. Put it all back together, and it should run fine.

First pull your spark plug out reconnect to the plug wire and ground tot he engine body
Pull the starter cord and see if you have a good clean spark that goes to the electrode and not to the side of the spark plug.
If no spark check your off/on switch

If you rebuilt the carb did you turn any of the screws on the carb while cleaning or take out, you might have just the low idle screw closed a little to much open half turn and see what happens. If you look at the carb where needle screws are located on the side,if you have two screws it will be stamped with an " L " and?or an " H " next to each screw. If you only have one screw then turn that one, to left to get more fuel. Good Luck...

I have a troy bilt string weed cutter 27cc TB21Ec and need to know the oil gas ratio. I just read that it takes straight gas but my cap on the weed cutter where you put the gas says gas/oil mixture

Don't know that exact trimmer, but I always run 40:1 in all my trimmers, chainsaws, etc. That is 3.2 oz. of 2 cycle oil to one gallon of gasoline. I rebuild these machines daily and run that mix in everyting, except when it's actually specified on the machine.

I have a troy bilt trimmer model tb20cs. has been laying for about four years. gave it a good cleaning ,new spark plug amd fresh gas. starts up fine and idles a short while then cuts off. If you try to...

Carburetor needs cleaning and probably diaphragms. Be sure to completely disassemble and pay very close attention as to where each diaphragm and gasket goes also make sure you remove the needle valve and clean screen.

Troy built 27cc string trimmer Model TB21 EC. What is the gas oil mix ratio?

4 cycle engines do not run on mixed fuel. Run on straight fuel. They have a spot to put oil in just like a lawn mover, and should be changed regularly. @ stroke engines run on mixed fuel.

Weed wacker runs then quits and won't start for hours

Sounds as if the issue is related to heat. Possible ignition failure when hot. (I see that alot in my shop.) If the unit is new take it to an AUTHORIZED repair shop and it should cost you nothing. Locate your nearest repair shop HERE.

Hope this is helpful,

Rough idel and no throttle on a Troy -bilt BT25ET

It sounds like you have done everything but replaced the fuel filter. Which is usually located in the fuel tank. And clean the muffler. You will probably find some oil and carbine build up.

good luck

Lawn Trimmer wont reach full revs.

you might want to check the magnito for rust build up.
it also wouldn't hurt to check the float or maybe even the valves.
since you adjusted the idle and mixture ur probly gonna have to adjust them again to get them back where they should be especially if rust build up on the magnito is the cause of your problem.
it wouldn't hurt to check the fuel filter either.

TRIMMER RUNS UNTIL PUT UNDER LOAD, THEN JUST DIES

The fuel to oil ratio your using may be wrong. The usual mix to 40 parts of gas to 1 part oil. This works to be about 1 1/4 gallons of gas to 3.2 fl. oz of 2 cycle oil.
You should also clean the air filter on the trimmer.
