Xp:
1. right click on unused space on your desktop and click properties to bring the display properties, (you can also go into start>control panel and double click on display)
2.then go to the screen saver tab and click on it
3. modify the time for screen saver to come up and uncheck the box that says "on resume password protect" so you're not asked for a password everytime your screen saver is on and you're returning to work on your computer.

vista:

it's a bit different than xp but similiar in some sense..
when you right click on the desktop go to "Personalize" to bring the display properties and then go to screen saver and modify the wait time and password protected settings.

hope that helps!!

My macbook screen keeps going off but the macbook is still running it occurs

The screen sleep is set for a different period than the hard disk sleep. This can be changed in the Energy Saver Preference Pane.
1. Launch System Preferences
2. Select Energy Saver (its icon is a CFL bulb)
3. Select Battery or Power Adapter settings. The upper slide allows you to set the elapsed time until your computer sleeps, while the lower slide allows you to adjust the elapsed time for the display to sleep. There are several chackboxes to further refine when your computer or its display sleeps to save power.

I don't want to unlock the keyboard everytime I walk away from the computer . I have to put my password in even if I am gone a minute. HELP!

Minimize everything and right-click on desktop; go to screen saver and uncheck the "on resume, password protect", or just adjust the time you want your keyboard to stay unlocked and keep the box checked.

How to unlock a computer

If your question is about the setup of BIOS then try this whether it's helpful to you or not? open the CPU and remove the battery from the motherboard and keep it for a few minutes and fix it in your system(CPU) Start up your system and see whether it's working or not? Else, when you are unable to log on to the computer to the domain. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del simultaneously to unlock the computer. This behavior can occur for either of the following reasons: 1. When the default screen saver is set to use a non-existent screen saver program. 2. When you use a corrupted screen saver that is password protected. Only or an administrator can unlock the computer.
All the Best!

My computer keeps telling me to type in a password every few mins

I suspect that you have your computer set to go to a power-saving mode in a very short time and then have password protection enabled to resume normal operation. In the Control Panel, find the screen saver option (I suspect you can also get there from righ clicking on any unused section of the display and choose Graphics Properties and go from there). Uncheck the box for "On resume, display logon screen"; also adjust the wait time to one that better suits your usage.

I hope this helps.

  5. Choose Remove password

Also check if there is a password in Screen Saver
  1. In your desktop screen right click (don't point your mouse pointer in any icon)

Acer screen saver keeps coming on while I'm working

It appears that you are losing the video connection between your computer and the the monitor. Remove the conector from the video card and reconnect it again, make sure the connector is firmly secure. If the problem still persists you could have a faulty video card and it needs to be replaced.

If the video card is built in on the motherboard, you still need to purchase a new video card (buy a AGP graphics card), insert into the AGP slot of your computer, you may need to disable the onboard graphics card - go into the BIOS to do this, and you need to install the new graphics card driver.
