Question about Rockford Fosgate Punch 300S Car Audio Amplifier

1 Answer

Car Amp I have a Diesel Audio NSX-11 Duel Channel Amp.. and it has 2 lights on it, a red and a blue. Well one day it stopped working so I changed both fuses so they're brand new, but when I turn my car on my amp lights up red but not blue. It clearly has nothing to do with my fuses, and all the wires are hooked up... Should I look back at my ground? or my remote work?

How do i get my amp to come on

Some car amps have a separate turn-on wire which delays power to prevent speaker thump. You may have such a wire (or a connection) that needs to be connected to power up the amp

Red Triangle light off?

I have the same amp in my car, If it is only a month old there is a internal problem with it, It should stay on when you used a jumper wire, I installed car audio for over 40 years before i retired, End was allso Am a certified electronic (Tech) PS,One thing it is not a 2 channel amp, people mistake it for a 2 channel amp because of the for speaker terminals on them, It is a mono (Bloc) Amp ,End where people go wrong on wireing them up is buy , Having each sub hooh up seperately to it, Instead of use just one of the negative end positive terminal on it , .I no the instruction for the wireing on it are confuseing, That can cause it to shot down. Allso if you have dual voice coil subs end there not wired up properly will cause it to shot down,

Hum in amp

A hum in a car audio amplifier is a good sign of a bad ground. Double check your ground wire and make sure you have it connected to bare metal. If it has any paint or anything what so ever on it you need to grind the surface down to bare metal.

Amp Power LED Display blinks red and no sound

With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red lead alternately to the B+ and remote terminals of the amp. Does the voltage on either the B+ or remote pulse below ~11 volts when the LED flashes?

Protection Mode? amp wont start

With your multimeter set to DC volts and the black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp, touch the red lead alternately to the B+ and remote terminals as the amp shuts down. If the voltage drops below ~11 volts, you need to check the wiring feeding whichever line is dropping too low.

If the voltage remains near or above 12v, disconnect all speaker wires and signal cables from the amp. If it powers up, the wiring needs to be checked. If it still shuts down, the amp likely has blown output transistors.
