Hi, Maybe someone can help. I have a tascam 112 casset player with the touch pad front control .It worked fine then it would not go into play mode when I pushed play, the play head goes up then after a few seconds then it goes into stop mode .It goes into reverse and foward fine but wont play .Any help would be great .
Thank You.
The 112 unit uses a cam operated transport- it may need a new 6.5" belt and some head base lubrication as well as the feedback pot spray cleaned. I do them all the time.

The tape needs to be extracted by a Technician as getting it out any other way can damage the machine. I see these failures all the time and is due to old grease and a broken Gear C. I have these gears custom made and am one of only two sources for them now world wide.
SOLUTION: This was happening to us for over 6 months, lately its every few minutes, i just figured out its due to faulty front touch pad, if you open the unit and remove front face of the player, remove the single small ribbon wire that connects to front touch pad, leave the other little ribbon wire as this is for the remote control IR receiver, only the remote control can work with this now obviously.
Maybe you accidentally hit lock key of your touch pad. Just press FN key + F7 key (key logo for touch pad).
Or run the SYSTEM RESTORE, Go to START, Choose ACCESSORIES, choose SYSTEM TOOLS, choose SYSTEM RESTORE and then choose PREVIOUS RESTORE DATE that your touch pad is working fine. If not, use the other restore dates if necessary.

since it is cassete recorder, may be it has magnetize by your player the last time you play it and the result is erasure of 1st and secon track..maybe you should break the plastic cover 2 edge at the bottom of your favorite cassette tape
It sounds like you are having issues with one of your wires being connected to the Parking Brake. I know certain DVD players and back-up camera devices have a wire that when connected to the parking brake, will turn the screen blank until you are parked again. I am not sure if this is the issue though.
