I have a Liftmaster 1/2 HP Garage Door Opener that's about 12 years old. Recently, all of the remote openers stopped working. The batteries are fine and I tried to reprogram them according to the instructions. That didn't work. Is there something internal that could be the problem? The wired buttons work fine.

If it came with its own remote (probably), then you'll have to use the new remote with it - they're all keyed to individual garage door openers, as it should be; otherwise, anyone could use any old remote to open your garage door.
You have a remote that has reverted to an earlier technology. The only way out of this is to purchase the same exact model number called for by your opener and go through the programming. You will find the new one will work with one of the old ones. Remove the battery from the one that isn't and drop it in the garbage.
