Fan starts intermittently Amana AMV5164BAB microwave oven
The hood fan on my Amana AMV5164BAB microwave oven starts up intermittently when one of the nearby kitchen cabinet doors are closed. Appears that likely the vibration causes the fan to come on, lock up one from shutting it off thru the keypad. Un-plug the unit for awhile and it will reset to normal operating state and the fan stays off. Being an electrical engineer, is there a downloadable service manual. Please advise.

Re: Fan starts intermittently Amana AMV5164BAB microwave...
Sounds like a loose connection or a failing hood thermostat.
That's right behind the control panel on the base plate.

This is usually due to incomplete venting or impaired air flow.
Assuming your hood vent exhaust fan is running properly, be sure your grease filter is clean (or if you use a charcoal type, it must be replaced when dirty) and be sure the exhaust ductwork and outside flapper are all clear.
I recommend that you always run the hood vent exhaust fan whenever you are cooking on the stovetop, too.

Hello I´ve repaired a couple of ACE208 with hot message in the display. The problem is in the convection fan located on the back of the oven cavity, turn the oven on and quickly open the door and look inside to see if the fan is spinning (slowing down, the fan stopps when you open the door but you can see it slowing down) if it is not spinning the supporting screws of the fan sometimes loosen up causing the fan to hit the oven walls preventing the fan to spin freely -probably before the problem started to happen you could hear a loud noise- the fan can´t move the air throgh the warming elements causing them to overheat hence the hot message. The fan motor rarely fails so all you need to do is remove the stainless steel cover and the back black cover and tighten the mounting screws of the convection fan and clean it if it´s dirty.
Hope this helps, both the ovens with hot message I have repaired get the green tag just by doing this or replacing the motor, I have no knowledge of other problems that may cause this.
I would wonder if it's the internal cooling which comes on automatically whenever you microwave or the hood vent exhaust fan, which you can turn
on and off manually.
It is vital that the
cooling fan runs, or the turntable and stirrer won't work, and magnetron will soon be destroyed.

That's only covered in a very subtle note in the hood fan section of your owner's manual:
NOTE:If the temperature gets too hot around the microwave oven, the fan in the vent hood will automatically turn on at the HIGH setting to cool the oven. It may stay on up to an hour. When this occurs, the fan can not be turned off.
for some reason you don't have your owner's manual, you can download it here.
Enter your model number as MV1610ST with no spaces.
