Open Question

Installed HP C4580 printer via USB. Now computer won't start.

Installed the All-in-one printer via the USB cable for my HP Pavilion 1240n desktop. Prints fine but I can't start the computer after powering down. If I disconnect the USB the desktop starts fine. I also installed this printer wirelessly on a laptop and this works fine. Any ideas?

    To be a little more specific--when I start the computer with the USB cable connected, it goes to the screen "Please select the operating system to start." I ;loose all functionality. No mouse, no keyboard. I have to manually shut it off, disconnect the cable and turn it back on to resume normal operations.

VERY INTERESTING! lol. Not a Lot i know to try, But just re install the printer, I know on most HP Printers they require the printer to be unplugged while installing, But on Mac i hear they automatically install, So it HAS to be plugged in... just delete the printer driver and try to reinstall. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: Have to keep setting up HPLJ 5P on a USB port everytime I print!

1)right click the my computer icon
2)click properties and then click hardware n go to device manager.
3)uninstall all usb ports and then scan for hardware changes
4)ur pc will detect your printer and ask for printer drivers
5)re load drivers and your pc will communicate with your printer
6)for reloding install the cd follow the instructions on the screen and click next
7)restart when the printer is loded.connect the wires and cords properly.

HI,

That's mean printer is working fine, Download HP Printing Diagnostic Utility and run. Find out the errors which appear after run Diagnostic Utility.

If you still facing then try to updete printer driver or software.

Use Device Update

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Double-click the update .exe file you downloaded from the HP Web site.
    • When prompted by the Software Update utility, accept the device update. The Device Update Wizard opens on your computer.
  2. At the Welcome screen, click Next.The Select a Device screen displays.
  3. Select your HP All-in-One from the list, and then click Next.The Important Information screen displays.
  4. Make sure your computer and device meet the requirements listed.
  5. If you meet the requirements, click Update.A progress bar or other such designator displays.
  6. Do not disconnect, shut down, or otherwise disturb the HP All-in-One while the updateis occurring.
Note : If you disrupt the update, or an error message displays that indicates that the updatefailed, click Contact HPon this page for assistance.After your HP All-in-One restarts, the Update Complete screen displayson the computer and a test page prints from the All-in-One. 7. The All-in-One is updated. It is now safe to use your HP All-in-One.

I hope it will fix the issue. After doing all these things if you still facing the same problem then you need to download printer driver and installed on your computer.

First you have to check which operating system is used with your product? And download software from here ( you need to download HP Full Feature Software and Drivers)


Uninstall the software
Method one

1.
Disconnect the HP All-in-One from the computer.
2.
Click Start , Programs or All Programs , point to Hewlett-Packard , then HP PSC 1500 All-in-One series , and then click Uninstall software .
3.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
4.
If asked to remove shared files, click No . Other programs that use these files might not work properly if the files are deleted.
5.
Restart the computer.

Method two
Use this method if the Uninstall Software option is not available in the Windows Start menu.

1.
Click Start , point to Settings , and then click Control Panel .
2.
Double-click Add/Remove Programs .
3.
Select HP PSC & OfficeJet 4.5 , and then click Change/Remove . Follow the on-screen instructions.
4.
Disconnect the HP All-in-One from the computer.
5.
Restart the computer.

Then reinstall the printer driver again.

yes - the plot is thickening now!

To your problem:
The printer itself will never go online. If you want to print something from the internet (a web page i.e.), your computer is establishing that connection via a web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.), like the page you see right now.
If you want to print something, you have to choose the "Print" command form the "File" menu in your application or hit the "Ctrl" key and "P" at the same time.

In the upcoming dialog you can choose your printer and the printing preferences. Try it right now and print this page. (Make sure you select "1 to 1" in the "Print Range" options, otherwise you might end up with a lot of scratch paper...)

Is your Deskjet still in the default "Private" mode? If so, change it to the "Public" mode.

In the toolbox, go to the printer services tab and choose configure Bluetooth settings. Change the mode to public mode.

Can we use a hard wire connection on a hp photosmart c4580 printer all in one?? We havent got wireless computers, can we hook it up using a wire??


You cannot connect this printer with a LAN wire connection.
BUT
You can connect this printer to a computer with the USB cable and configure the printer as a shared printer on your LAN network.

My printer says off line nothing pending its wireless


Use a USB cable to connect the printer to a USB port on your computer,
or, configure its wireless interface to connect to the wireless access-point created by your own wireless router.

My 6110 hp officejet printer will not print. In the printer box the document has the word "error" next to it. How can I fix this? By the way it prints fine on my desktop just not on my laptop


I would reinstall the drivers for the printer on the laptop, making sure that:
1. if operating systems are different between the your PC and your laptop, you will need to download the appropriete software.
2.if using a USB cable, ensure the drivers are installed BEFORE you plug in the USB cable.
3. check the printers installed on the laptop, making sure that your officejet is the DEFAULT printer..

We have purchased model HP C4580 from Staples in Grimsby as a manager special but having just unpacked this find no USB cable nor instructions on how to use this model either. Please can you tell me where...


You never get a usb cable with the printer. You need to buy one.

Wireless printer communication unavailable via USB


Hi. Hope you got it working fine now on your Windows 7. If not, go to Start Menu > Devices and Printers > right click on the Lexmark print object > Troubleshoot. Make sure the printer is on and is still connected to the computer via the usb cable.

Shows as offline on my mac book


if you are using Windows XP perform the steps below:
1. Click Start --> Printers and Fax.
2. Right click the printer icon and check the following:
a. Check whether the All-in-One is set as default printer.
b. Ensure that the there is a check mark on the "Use printer online". If you have the Use printer offline, make it online by selecting the option.
c. Ensure that there is no check mark on the Pause printing.

There might be a problem with your computer as well. Try printing with paralell cable to make sure the interface works at all. If the patalell-port works fine, try updating the printers firmware. Still problems ? Try with a different computer. If if works fine with another computer, then you know theres something wrong with your first computer. Good luck.

so its usb? The HP installation media will walk you thru installing it, at a certain point it will tell you when to attach the device.try that.

Photosmart c4580 goes offline. using in wireless mode


My HP photosmart c4580 will print from my computers via USB but anytime I try print wrelessly it tells me it is offline. After all the problems I have had with this printer going into deep sleep mode and the patch updates which seem to eliminate this problem I am now burdened by this,
