Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Magicjack doesn't work

I purchased the MJ and installed, had everything done correctly (it shows "ready to call" every time I plug it into the USB port). BUT I can't use a phone to dial any numbers or set up voicemail. My home phone cord is plugged into the ATA-172 with all other cords and cables for Erthernet and WLAN/LAN. If i plug that cord into the MJ, I don't have internet. So I bought another one and plugged it in as a second "phone" line into the ATA-172 and MJ.
Now, when I plug it into the comp, it shows it can be used, but I can NOT make a call using my phone. I thought the whole purpose of it was that i don't have to talk to a monitor. Besides, though it says it's simple to set up voicemail, I can't get through: the line is busy, and I hear no voice as promised.
I am located in CR, and I bought it to call back to the US. And it's not happening. I thought I have to dial just a local US number using my home phone with the cord plugged into the MJ. Am I wrong? What to do?

This is the least expensive and probably the best telephone service that I have EVER used!

This service ONLY costs $19.95/year and with a 5 year license extension it costs only $12.00/year! That's $1.67/month the 1st year then $1.00/month each year thereafter.

Don't believe any of the BAD PRESS you may hear about the service. I discovered what the "technical" problem was, because it actually happened to me. I was having audio and connection problems until I solved the technical problem of my computer's USB bus drawing over 500 mA, actually 580 mA, with everything plugged into the bus.

My eMachine computer, Model T2882, only has a 250 Watt power supply and that was working at its limits with all the computer cards and USB devices that I had plugged into the machine were demanding current.
The attached links is how I solved the problem for less than $20.00!

I am on auto refill and my magicJack quit working I use for my fax machine and do not get any dial tone. I have tried unplugging etc and still does not work, What is wrong?

Is your Magic Jack plugged into AC wall current with a Power Adapter?
If so, try powering the MJ directly off a USB port on a computer.
The MJ power adapter is prone to failure. On the MJ plus, there is a blue power light in the shape of a cross near the word "plus". That light should be illuminated when plugged into a USB port or a power adapter. If the light is out when using the power adapter, then the power adapter is dead. If the light is out either way, then the MJ is probably dead.

I can call out on my Majic Jack Plus but cannot receive calls. The majic Jack is registered and set up on my modem.

This could be failure of the power adapter module.
Is your Magicjack plugged into the wall power thru a power adapter? Try bypassing the power adapter and plugging the magicjack directly into a USB port on your computer. If the magicjack work correctly now, then you have a bad power adapter module.
I had a similar problem. My Magicjack was plugged into a wall socket. First the dial tone became inconsistent, then I could no longer receive calls, then it died completely.
I plugged the MJ into a USB socket on my computer, and it then worked normally.
If you have a failing power adatper, it will continue to deteriorate, and it will eventually fail completely. The blue power on the magicjack will not come on when it is plugged into the power adapter, but it will illuminate when plugged into the USB socket on the computer.
Note: the computer must be on to power the magicjack thru the USB port.

Magicjack is aware of the problem and offers a replacement power adapter module. To contact them, go to www.magicjack.com and go to "support". They will ship you a new power module for about $5.50. Some people have reported that the replacement modules from Magicjack are no better than the originals and have had repeat failures.
Consider getting a power module from another source. There are lots of AC to USB power converter modules available on Ebay for only a few dollars. Search Ebay for "magicjack power adapter".

My phone doesn't ring. The call goes directly to my computer and I don't know someone is calling.

My magicjack phone stop working since yesterday problems

I assume you mean no green light meaning when you plug the MJ into a USB port the internal light fails? If so, the MJ unit itself has died. You should still be able to access your MJ via the USB port and the dial pad shows up on the computer screen. Even if you did not re-register, the keypad should show up and you can go to the web site to get another 12 months or so. If you have to get a new device, I suggest the MJ+ that allows you to plug it into a computer or directly into the router.

Magicjack problems

Make certain you have a solid connection. The MJ must be on (lit up when in the USB Port) and the screen showing the Dial Pad. If you do not see your telephone number up top on the dial pad, you are not connected and naturally no sound.

Is there a way to repair or replace the magicjack adapter?

Go buy a new one for $40 at Walmart - KEEP YOUR RECEIPT AND PACKAGING!

Wait one week and simply put the damaged MJ back into pack and return it (within 90 days of purchase)- the store gets credit and you get a new jack, phone #, and your year of service begins anew - no one takes a loss - store gets credit and you don't have to mess with MJ's non-existant customer service -

Note: I have done this 2 times as I get VERY POOR QUALITY CONNECTION on MJ and still cannot figure out a way to improve my connection quality- any suggestions??

MagicJack VOIP sound cuts in and out

MJ ran fine for me from July 2008 to October 2009, when choppiness and cutouts started and continue to today. This is a MJ network problem, there is no fix in your own computer, as I have tried everything - computers, internet speeds, headset with phones unplugged, other Magicjacks. The MJ servers have just become overloaded. MJ is dead.
