Re: no audio on rca hdtv
The audio in your set is probably mostly contained in a single larger IC, possibly attached to a heat sink.
These often have 80% of the audio circuitry and are not immune to failure.
To locate and test this area, one should have some electronic skills and at least a multimeter.
If you feel you have done what is necessary to turn on the audio, you may need an expert.

The first thing that I would check is in the audio menu to see if it is set on the SAP mode (secondary audio programming). If it is and there is no audio being broadcast on that channel, then you would have to turn SAP to off (which is usually what it is set to). Now there have been problems with the audio dropping out on regular CRT style RCA televisions where the audio would drop out, and you had to unplug the set for about 30 seconds to reset the TV, and I would try that next
the lack of sound is likely due to a defective audio output amplifier integrated circuit or IC for short, it needs replacing, the wavy lines through you picture is due to a defective filter capacitor in your power supply circuit, or may be due to the audio amplifier I.C drawing more current from your power supply causing a non clean power to be supplied to the video circuits, have the audio amp replaced first and note if the wavy lines are still present if so it is likely that some filter capacitors need replacing, to obtain sound you might be able to connect a external amplifier like your home stereo using the aux input and the sound output from your TV`s RCA jacks, this works well, let me know if you need further assistance good luck
My tv is relatively new, but the bad thing is that I had an old; big screen tube type rca model; home theatre, that was heavier than a car, and it went out, due to the cracking and popping sound, off sometimes, and back on.
What is strange is the new tv now, the hdtv, light weight, about five years old, is doing the same thing. Actually, now, the power will not even come on. The lcd green light in the front goes on and off.
Take no offense, but I thought I would not have these problems anymore. What do you suggest?
Make sure u replace the lamp cover as the safety switch need to be closed to make the set work. If new lamp did not repair your problem , then it may well be the Ballast Board, Sometimes call the Lamp Driver.
im srry to tell you that you picture tube blew in you tv this can happen from many things as simple as a defective one .. to a bad power surge in your house ... if it is under warranty they will fix free of charge .. if not you'll have to get a new tv .. a new tv in most cases is cheaper then tryin to just by the tube .. oh and if its not under warranty .. you could always just say it surged and claim it on you home owners insurance =]
The picture won't come on my sanyo hdtv lcd. model number:dp37647. The power went off and when everything came on, the tv no longer showed the picture. The power button still works though! It show the tv to be recieving power, but no corresponding action from the screen or sound! HELP!
