Question about Mitsubishi VS-45607 45" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Vertical Yoke Hey, I was just reading through problems with the mitsubishi VS-45607 and I came across your solution about resoldering the "vertical yokes". Could you explain to me where they are? I have a VS-45603 that has problems with the screen jumping. I want to go through every common problem and make sure everything is working well. I also heard some arcing by the CRTs, is that normal? Thanks

    Thanks, I will probably reflow all of the joints to insure I'm getting good connection. Also, do you have an idea why the picture would "jump"? It doesn't do it all the time. I read that the input and output caps on the 9 volt supply can be the cause of it but I looked and couldn't fint a 9 volt supply on my VS-45603. Could it be the 5 volt with some 60Hz garbage in the supply? Let me know and thanks again

The vertical yoke plugs have DY stamped on the board next too the wire plug.Its located on the main PCB on the far right side looking in the rear of the set. Arcing in the CRT can be many different things such as a defective HV lead to the CRT or even a bad ground on the CRT drive Circuit board which is attached to the bottom of each CRT.

    Some of the mitsubishis have been known to jump vertically due to defective Caps in the PIP circuits.

My tv has many lines in the screen. what kind of problem is this and what does it need to be fixed?

You may be suggesting a convergence problem..when the blue and red boxes will not center. You have bad grounds on the convergence ICs. Resolder or replace theses ICs. Or you may be asking about a problem in the vertical section. Vertical problems will appear as horizontal lines on the TV. In this case you have bad capacitors near ithe vertical IC and must also resolder or replace the vertical IC.

Only getting vertical lines on screen..no picture

Tell me are they Verticle lines or verticle LINE. If it is one line, either yoke( a coil kept at the neck of the tube).A yoke has two coils for Vertical and Horizontal for deflections.When the Horizontal deflection coil is opened you get a vertical line which is a single bright line. There another small linear coil on the board connecting the horizontal coil of the yoke.This is a simple fault and tracing is very easy and not expenssive.Only if the yoke is open, it might be bit costly.And that is a rare case.

Mitsubishi VS-45607 45" Big Screen

Good Day, Delano1981;

It may cure the problem but I would suspect the 9 Volt source
CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 AND
IC2P01 PART # 270P466020 (9-VOLT REGULATOR). BOTH
ARE ON THE SIGNAL PCB.

This should resolve your TV"s condition.

Good Luck, big IRISH.

This is a VZ3 chassis1.gif....notorious for cracked solder connections on the yoke plugs. Look at each yoke on the 3 CRT necks , you'll see a Molex plug on each yoke. The top two connections are for the vertical winding. There is a plastic tab that hinders easy soldering of these....carefully clip it off with a good pair of ****. You can then access the top 2 solder connections. Resolder these and also resolder the vertical output IC401. This should take care of the problem.
