first clean your computer of dust you could use a vacuum cleaner but not with a metallic pipe it might short out if it touches something inside the computer
use a plastic pipe one
run the chkdsk utility
click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to repair any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive another way of running the chkdsk utility
click start control panel administration tool computer management disk management right click on your drive select properties tools click check now click start two boxes automatically fix files and
scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now tart should schedule this task when restart
have no input while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage your computer
check all power and data leads that attach from motherboard to your hard drive for secure dust free connections if it's a 40 pin flat ribbon type ide this will be the first to fail
if its a clicking sound you might have a dirty hard drive the clicking noise is the reader arm jumping across platters on your hard drive
