Question about Acer AL2216WBD LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Blue monitor My monitor has NEVER been moved from it's spot. I purchased this in August of 08 and it is now December of 08 and the monitor is only showing in a blue tint. I tried changing all the settings on the monitor, and nothing helps.

I moved the screen around a few more times, and it turns out that the cord was the issue. I switched it with a previous one, and my cord from the newer one was tossed, due to faulty wiring.

Blue ink spot on monitor

That is not an ink spot, that indicates the LCD panel is cracked and the "ink" is the liquid parts of the "liquid crystal display" LCD that is coming out from the broken glass. When you have a broken LCD panel you just need to get a new monitor, the panels are not repairable and to replace one will cost almost as much as a new monitor.

My wife's mom bought us a desk top p.c with this samsung 906bw

Well, seems like the CPU is the source of the problems, not the LCD Monitor.

The simple way to check it is by remove the cable from CPU unit, see for any sign such us color pattern moving or any sign.

the other way is, try using other CPU or Laptop, then connect it to the LCD Monitor. If it works, then you need to repair your CPU.

Hope it's working

Very small black spots scattered over the screen

It sounds like you have some dead pixels. If those spots move then it may just be your graphics card. How long have you had the monitor? How long have these spots been there?

Hi my monitor has bright colours on it and i cant make out what im doin its really bright and hurts my eyes

Turn off the pc but leave the monitor on. unhook the monitor from the pc. the screen SHOULD run a "self test" with a moving white green red blue box. if that box is on a bare black screen and there are no bright spots or cracks or anything weird looking, then the screen itself is ok. If however, you see odd shades of blue and pink and it looks cracked or scratched or has lines in it, then it is time to replace that screen.

Fonts and pictures on display are deeply shadowed

unplug the monitor cable and check for bent pins. If there is one, that could be the problem.

If the lines are running top to bottom and are perfectly straight then your panel is failing.
The only repair is to have it replaced. It can be sent off and have the driver tabs repaired, but the sheer cost of that operation is far more expensive then a new monitor.
The next best option is to look for another monitor on a certain online auction site with a failed power supply and salvage the panel from that.
Even buying just a panel (new) will be more expensive or as expensive as a replacment monitor.

Sorry, it's just the way technology moves.
If it has any warranty left, then return it under that warranty. Most LCD's have a 3 year warranty, so it is worth checking up on. Look for the "Date of manufacture" on the sticker on the back of the monitor.

Digital mode of VX2035wm has stopped working

I recognize the model number as a Viewsonic model.

Check the digital input using another computer to make sure it's the monitor.

If you're brave enough, do this:

Open the unit and check to see if any of the capacitors in the power supply or other boards look domed or vented on the top.

Replace any capacitors accordingly. Use the same value capacitors. Most often, 1000uF 16V or 25V, 470uF at 16 or 25V, 220uF at 16V or 25V.

Capacitors are used to remove ripple from the switching power supply. This ripple, or noise could cause digital circuits to act up. Usually it's easy to spot the bad ones. Good ones look like a perfect cylinder. If they look swollen on the top they are likely bad.

If you do this and it does not solve the problem, the main board could be going bad and require replacement, You should be able to order one from your local Viewsonic service shop. By the way, that model is fairly new. Remember that Viewsonic monitors carry a three year warranty.
