Question about Acoustic Research AR HC6 System

Open Question

Acoustic Research HC6 subwoofer problem

I posted this once before and got no responses. I've had this system for about 3 years, and for the last six months, the subwoofer powers off automatically after 2-3 minutes if the volume is not at a certain loudness. There is no real "on" button, but rather an off/on-standby button. If I manually turn the button off and on again, it stays on for another few minutes before turning off again. It's really annoying!

Any suggestions before I have to sink money on a non-matching subwoofer?

My acoustic research hd510 has a loud humming noise

check your audio line in connection, either L or R signal line floating may also cause humming noise. Sub woofer usually very sensitive. If your audio input not connected, do you still hear humming noise? in actual you should not hear such noise, unless volume at max then it is possible to hear little.

My Acoustic Research HTB-80 Speaker Bar stopped working after a storm. No lights/power. Is there any fuses in the unit that I should check?

if your unit come with external Adaptor power up type. then mostly is the adaptor already blown, replace the adaptor will do.

I just got a Acoustic research S108 PS subwoofer from a friend. No instruction manual. I'm wondering how to connect this to my stereo system. I have an old JVC amp with a out RCA jack marked SUBWOOFER, but...

What makes you feel that isn't right?

You can't just slap a sub onto a receiver and have it work optimally (if at all). The receiver must typically be configured to know it has a sub, then bass managment and sharing decisions must be made, then crossover frequency choices and levels adjusted to match it all up.

All self-powered amps work that way.

Have you looked at the manual for your JVC?
