Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

Programming remotes for garage door

I purchased a model 35390 and install went fine. I tried to program the remote built into my 2004 nissan and it would not work. I reset the two remotes I got with the opener and they both work fine. I then tried to program my built in car remote again and it would not work. The key pad won't work either. I follow the process of pressing and releasing the learn button, then holding down the remote button. For the keypad I pressed the learn button, then put in a four digit code and held the enter button

You can program more than one remote if they are the same model number and/or the same technology. If your remotes are the same model number then one has converted to an earlier technology. You will need to purchase a new remote and then you will find that the new one will work with one of the old remotes but not the other. Get rid of the bad remote to prevent complications in the future.

If you didn't, try programming the remote this way.

Press and hold the button on the remote and then press and immediately release the smart/learn button on the motor unit. If this doesn't work you need to make sure you have the correct remote for the model opener you have. Your model number doesn't bring any results from Sears Parts.com.

Programming remote, unit will not flash.

The easiest way to program is to hold the button on the remote while you press and immediately release the smart/learn button. If it worked before there is no reason for it not to work now unless it totally failed.

Just moved, no garage remote, need to set the opener in my SUV.

The garage door opener is needed to use the HomeLink system that is in your vehicle. This design is so that no one can program theirs to gain access to your garage. You will have to obtain a working remote and it will have to be programmed at the garage door.

I CAN NOT PROGRAM MY BUILT IN CAR REMOTE ON MY NEW 139.53985DM

didnt try everything cause if you did, it would work! Get two people and garage door opener. One read manual from car under Garage door" or Homelink while other pushes button. When manual says if this did not work or if you have security plus or rolling code, continue with other instructions. You will need a working remote and will need to pushh learn button on motor logic board.

Programming the garage door opener

I know what the problem is but never tried to resolve it. I have a 1998 XJ8 and went through the same problem. After numerous attempts to program the 4 channel built in opener I researched the problem and learned that the system in the car actually changes the code after every use. It's a security feature built in to the system. I simply started keeping my remote in the car.

There must be a way to disable the automatic randomizer so it retains the code from your remote opener everytime. Check with the dealer to see if it can be disabled and you will be in business. Please post the info if you get it.

Good Luck!
