On the extension that is forwarding use Feature #4 to cancel the call forwarding unless it is programmed under the capabilities section in programming. This will require someone with programming ability to make the forwarding change back to the voice mail access number.
Hi! All phones that are plugged into the system are automatically assigned an extension. This is a good thing, and it keeps life simple. When you have a specific line assigned to a phone, all it means is that you have the phone programmed to appear and ring on that particular phone set. In short, find out your extensions number by pressing feature * 0 intercom. That will be the extension that you put in to add the mailbox to that phone. Now, I am assuming that you are using a voice mail system. If you are not, then you can have your phone service provider set you up with an external voice mail on a particular line.
Hi you need to ask the installer to programme that specific extension to answer that ring sequence ,this can be done via your modem saving a call out cost.if you don't have a modem i strongly suggest that you get one and control the system remotely,
Nowadays it can be done via the Dtmf tones on that specific extension.
Your phone is fowarded to Voice Mail and do not disturb is on. Turn DND button off. If it is not the case on your phone press intercom # key 601 then hang up. Then do intercom #key 604, dial your voice mail extension numbe, r press the speed dial Select button, dial 16, press the redial button then hang up.
Jennifer209, if you press FEATURE + the button VM is pre-programmed on what does it display? It should show the extension number pilot to VM. If you call it directly, what happens? If you get no answer calling it directly, your VM may be down.
Kaait, is it getting into the VM that's the problem, or doing things inside the mailbox that is the problem?
Typically you want your phone system to ring your phones (say extension 10, 11 and 15) and then if no one answers after so many rings the call is transfered to the port the voice mail is on (let's say it's port 16) The voice mail is set to answer right away but does not "ring" until the call is transfered to it.
This way (at 4 rings) if a call comes in on line 1 and you answer after 3 rings but a call comes in on line 2 at the same time, the first ring on line 2 will not make the total = 4 and set off the voice mail.
I would guess the port at your voice mail is not set to ring and nothing is set up to transfer calls to your voice mail.
Did you set this up yourself? How did you program the phone system?
