Question about Samsung SyncMaster 910MP 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Is this website asking for payment before giving advice?

This morning I got a message from FixYa saying "We wanted to find out if you still need a solution for the Samsung SyncMaster 910MP (Silver) 19" LCD Monitor Problem you posted on FixYa yesterday. In case you do, we'd like to offer you our Premium Assistance Plan. By using this plan, your problem will be addressed by a group of Elite Experts who can provide you with professional assistance and often solve your problem. Click here for more information about this plan." My internet provider, Earthlink, doesn't allow me to just "click." I need a URL to get to the website to even find out that FixYa wants.

This morning I got another "image adjustment" box on my screen and it all turned magenta. It seems to be going through the three process colors, cyan, yellow, and magenta. I was able to get rid of the magenta by logging out and unplugging everything, but the color is still pale.

I am replying to bammbammfran, who asked "Is your screen color generally pinkish especially when it first starts up?" No, when the screen goes through these strange color changes, I am able to make it return to almost normal by logging out and unplugging the computer, monitor, etc,, which are all connected to one master plug. But even though the color is "almost normal," it's very pale. When I'm working in my word processing program (WordPerfect) it is almost too pale to read. And the screen still goes black periodically, although it comes back on in a few seconds. And when my computor "goes to sleep," sometimes the screen won't come back on unless I unplug everything.

You do not have to pay.
That is for the premium solving area where there are people more likely to reply to make a buck.
Some don't want to be bothered with free advice.
Is your screen color generally pinkish especially when it first starts up ?

It is sounding like you are possibly having power issues on the inverter - power board side. and that your bulbs are not receiving enough power to fully light them up..
Your having to unplug it is also an indicator. What this does is allow the capacitors to discharge for a bit.
This lack of power can also affect the video board functions to a point.
Eventually it will stop working all together.
Replacing the capacitors on the board may rectify this.
There is a chance that the onboard tarnsistors or a weak transformer on the inverter may be partly to blame.
The reason I asked about pink screen is that a bad bulb could cause a similar effect. Most 19 lcds have 4 bulbs (two on top and two on bottom)
If you can take it apart ? and send me a picture of the board, I may be able to tell you more.

You have computer problem, you can easily verify by using this monitor with another PC or another monitor with this PC.
It may be video card driver problem, since the PC was not properly shutdown, it will give you that message "boot in safe mode or normally".

LG W61 monitor keeps going 2 power save mode & won't come back up

trromig, I really don't think it's in powersave mode. I think that your CCFLamps are turning OFF because the Switch-mode-power-supply/Inverter supply is going into SHUTDOWN MODE after detecting a FAULT condition. First thing to do is visit YOUTUBE and search out long 8-12min video clips of LCD monitor disassembly and or LCD repair. If you are now using your pc with a swapped in monitor to do this FIXYA type thing, then you know it's not the PC that could be the problem! It's the LCD! One thing you failed to mention was the AGE and approximate total "ON" hours your Lucky Goldstar W61 has on it. It helps to know that information in diagnosing the cause of failure. Is the unit still covered by warranty? We here at fixya need to know these things to give you advice on all the options you have. Get back to me on fixya or e mail lmistyrel @ aol.com Bye for now. I'm louie12fix on fixya

Error message

I have issues with the f1703 monitor as wel - the OSD will not turn off - though the more common failure of this model is that the screen is black after a very short usage time period. Apparently, this model monitor was defective, and was recalled by HP. However, they failed to give notice, so I would recommend following up with them to attempt to get it replaced. Good luck! (Further, it could be that the defective monitor may be affecting Windows in some form or fashion, but I wanted to inform you regarding the monitor.)

If this information assists you in resolving the problem, please take a moment to rate the solution at a "FixYa" level. If you do not feel that you can rate at a "FixYa", please post back with more information regarding what has occurred subsequently and/or more details regarding the situation, and I will gladly help you until we have reached a definitive solution. Thank you for using and rating FixYa!

Dell 1800FP - no power

Hi pcpiuk

If you have a multimeter, and want to get into the electronics of it all, you could rip the covers off and sus it out. Here is a pictorial guide on whats in it. You need to check the power supply for operation. If it appears to be producing voltage(they usually do or they dont) then it will be ok. The common cause of failure in the power supply is the regulator IC ICE2AS01 an 8-pin DIP chip, and resolder the entire PC. Around power devices I use solder with 2% silver content as it creates much tougher solder joint. If the power supply checks ok, then the inverter is the next spot to check. Just replace it if it appears to be the problem. You can get spares to rebuild the power supply and even new boards from ebay or Dell direct.
If you have any trouble getting parts, comment back to me here.
I am more than happy to answer any other questions you may have about it, please get back to me here, or use the ASK function to go straight to me :) If you are still unsure, have problems, or we need to look at the situation more deeply, then before you give a rating for this advice, hit the ASK button Thanks for using FixYa, If you consider the advice I have given you as sound, a FixYa rating is a great reward for my efforts to help you. Dell LCD monitor suddenly loses power

Hello,

Five years is a long time for an LCD panel. You definetly got your money's worth.

But, if your trouble shooing has led you to this conclusion I can also only conclude that the power driver inside your panel just gave up the ghost.

However, try giving Dell a call, for what's thats worth and see what they have to say.

You might also want to ask this expert "Robotek" what he may think as he is a board troubleshooter and could give you an answer if one is there.

Type this or copy and paste into your browser's address bar:

And then click on the Ask Me button under his picture.

Monitor turns off automatically..

It's possible that the ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Management Interface) is not enabled in the bios. To access the bios either press F2 or DEL, depending on the motherboard(usually tells you on the initial boot screen), then look for a line that reads 'Power Management Setup' or similair and press ENTER. When into the menu check to see if ACPI is reading enabled, if not press the right arrow on your keyboard then either press PAGE UP or PAGE DOWN or + or - on the keyboard. Press 'ESC' then it will ask if you if you want to save changes, press'Y'. That should sort it.
