When you say the rest of the cycles. make sure it is spinning. That washer will fill up and drain and not agitate or spin if you have broken the couplier between the motor and transmission the motor reverses. tip the machine back and feel right behind the motor for a plastic coupler. In wash check the bottom part of the agitator if its moving and the top is not you will have to replace the doggets in the agittator.

I know this is an old post but, the most common reason this problem happens is because the timer fails to advance to the next cycle. There is a complicated escapement linkage between the timer motor and the timer cam inside the switch that likes to screw up. It usually burns off one of the sets of points so you can still have fill but no spin or fill and spin but no agitate. The most common set of points to burn off would probably be the set that relates to the spin cycle as the most amperage is flowing to the motor while under the strain of spin cycle. Remedy? Get a new timer switch probably about $50.00 American

If the washer does fine thru the agitation cycle (the washing), that means the motor is OK and the coupler is OK.  It would not agitate unless both are OK.  (and don't listen if anyone tells you the lid switch is bad -- machine would not fill & go thru wash cyle). The spin is another matter.  There is a separate tube for spinning the basket.  There is a drive  block at top of the tube (that sometimes fails)  and there is a separate cluch mechanism below, under the tub.  Those places is where you should look.
