Samsung httx75 reciever started on fire

I have a samsung httx75 surround sound. it worked fine for almost a year and then two weeks ago it started smoking and then started on fire. luckily i was watching tv when it happened and was able to put it out. it is still on warranty and i had to go through a painful process of getting info through to them, i now have it sent back to them. but in return all they want to give me is a refurbished model and nothing else, after this one that i already had caught fire. i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and if so how they went about it. i have been very disapointed in samsung, and i would like to make everyone aware of this problem to make sure that it doesnt happen to anyone else.

Just happened to me tonight I have a HT-TX75 model which has worked fine for exactly 13 months which is 1 month past the warranty. This is clearly a manufacturer's defect and I refuse to pay a dime for any repairs. It's one of the scariest moments of your life when your laying in bed watching tv about to fall asleep and smoke starts billowing up in front of the screen. If it wasn't for the horrid smell I probably wouldn't have noticed my receiver was glowing orange and about to ignite my entertainment center. Luckily I was able to put it out with a nearby extinguisher. I've contacted them tonight about the problem so we'll see what they have to say.

I too have the HTTX75. Just last night, we were sleeping, the smoke alarm went off! Jumped out of bed still dead asleep, my wife grabbed the kids to get them up, just in case. Turns out, it was the HTTX75 smoking! I was like, what the???

Has anyone had success with getting this fixed? I took the cover off and found a burnt componet just in front of the cooling fan. I would appreciate ANY HELP!

Seems to me that this should be a company wide safety recall at minimum!

Email me direct with your responses please. kgaskins805@live.com

BTW, I bought mine at CompUSA who is now out of business! Go figure!

This is the component that set off the smoke alarms!

I am the one that posted this problem originally and just a follow up on around 3 years later after i got a refurb same thing happened to it tonight. Extremely disgusted with this product, both receivers that i got have started on fire, at least this one didnt have flames shooting out the back. Once again my house smells like burnt plastic. Samsung should be embarrassed and they will be getting a phone call in the morning!

UPDATE - I sent in my unit and they repaired it free of charge, shipping both ways was paid by them as well. I had zero problems.

I have to admit, I am a little taken back still by the smoke bomb, but Samsung handled it professionally and took care of the unit.

What are you playing in it? If you are playing a cd, the system will default to playing the sound only in stereo. You can manually select a surround mode if this is the case.

Hi, You have to make sure you are using the "audio out" from the dvd/surround into the "audio in" on your TV also in some case TVs will need to change the "input" with your remote to see where you connected your dvd/sur also some TVs have a switch for "n" or "off" for internal speakers and also you could have that option in your audio menu on your TV, Hope it help, good luck. If you're saying you hooked the Bose speakers directly to the Yamaha's amp instead of the prescribed way through their own bass module - they're cooked.
