Machine not sewing

I have a brother XL-5340. When I try to sew, it isn't sewing at all. The thread comes through the fabric, but them its just one long open stitch till I stop.

Have you checked that the tiny screw in the bobbin is not loose, sometimes this creates this problem for me or if the bobbin size is incorrect.

How do I remove the outside case for my Brother xl 5340.

If you do that, you'll void the warranty on the machine. You may already have. If the "turning wheel" (handwheel) is stuck, then most likely either the machine has seized from lack of lubrication or thick lubricants, or you've got a heck of a thread jam going on in the bobbin case and feed dog area.

Bobbin thread loops

try adjusting the top tension, one number or letter at a time on a
piece of scrap fabric till the bobbin stitches don't loop any more

Brother xl-2600 As I am sewing ( not thick material) the thread keeps breaking, also over seams it is not sewing through. Then, when my bobbin ran out, went to change it and when pulling the needle down...

try changing the top thread tension to 3 or 4

also rethread the machine just in case the thread is hung up somewhere

take the bobbin out & put the bobbin in reverse of what you did before

you said you changed the needle, check to make sure it in correctly,, the flat side goes to the back of the machine, push it all the way up before tightening the screw

The needle on my brother XL 5340 sewing machine does not appear to go down far enough to catch the lower thread.

Hi. Check to make sure that the flat side of the needle shank is facing to the rear (away from you), that the needle isn't bent, and that it is inserted as far up as it will go.

Hope this helps,

Robbie

The cloth does not feed properly

Make sure you have enough pressure on the presser foot, if you are sewing on a slippery fabric put some tissue paper on top of the fabric then sew.

Thread Breaking On Brother Sewing Machine

if thread is good quality you may have a sharp groove in your needle plate hole from needle breakage. if so, polish with emery tape.

Try a new needle, making sure it is put in properly. A bent needle can break thread. Make sure top tension is set properly.
