I work for an appliance repair company and I had a recent service call for the same exact situation on this washer. I also know that Rotary Position Sensor is linked to the F-51 error code. I have found that this is not always the case. On this paticular call the F-51 error code was caused by a piece of clothing (sock, wash cloth, etc.) being stuck or jammed between the internal basket and the outer tub. I removed the cloth and the washer ran fine, so give that a check first before you spend the money.

The f51 code is the rps sensor has failed. the "rps" is the rotary program sensor. it is a device that tells the control board how fast the motor is running. they do have a history of failing and it may need to be replaced with a new sensor and wiring harness. if you call whirlpool they might help you with the parts or labor or both. just call the 800-253-1301 and let them know what you are having for a problem.; it might help, but if not then have the sensor replaced.
i love this machine and it will be around for the next 20-30 years, so keep it and you will be happy.

Thats your RPS sensor. There should be a piece of paper in the control panel that will run you through it. I fix air conditioners and heaters professionally so this stuff aint too hard for me. My girl friends is doing the same thing pretty much. On the back side theres 3 1/4 inch screws u gotta unscrew and pull off the top part. then there should be that paper work in there it will tell you waht to do. As for the leaking that just is probably something else.. You might want to look undearneath it to see if something major happened. but i would take offf the rear panel (a bunch more quarter inch screws). then theres like hoses with hose clamps running between the tub and the water pumps (one pump for draining and another pump for recirculating). probably one of thoem hoses is loose so you just gotta get channelocks and pinch down the clamp so that you can fix that. As for the f 51 code. Ill let u know my problem. I ohmed out the motor (the 3 wires yelow blue and red) and i get 30.6 ohms where it needs to be 16 ohms. And on the rps sensor (the 6 brown wires) i ohm them out and im not getting any continuity on the thermistor. So ill call whirlpool tomorrow and find out if its the rps or the main drive, or both! Hopefully its not too expensive a fix. Cause i personally dont think this washing machine is worth more than 150 to fix. I can tell its not a very good washing machine. Theres tons of ppl having problems with this thing. all i can say is if u do get it fixed then u better be easy on it from now on!

My Whirlpool Cabrio washer model WTW5610XW0 type 588-02 spins then stops and clothes still come out wet.

The washer is unbalanced, make sure it is level and the clothes are distributed even, if this have been check. put the unit on cold water and see how fast it comes in. Safety programmed into the unit if it takes longer then 10 minutes to fill it will just drain. This is to keep the washer from flooding out. Check the water inlet where the hose screws on, it could be plugged up with grit

Washer stops and F 51 flashs

Hello, It is a rotor position sensor code. The control is no longer receiving a signal from the motor. It can be a failed sensor or control, but usually it is a bad connection where the wires plug on to the sensor.
Thanks

Whirlpool cabrio washing machine

FL error code generally means 'flood condition' which is telling you the machine is overfilling with water with water.

Try pressing STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.

If the condition persists the water fill valve or sensor may be faulty and may need replacement.

Cabrio washer is giving an F 51 Code

The "F51" error code is common problem with the Cabrio. This is an RPS sensor error. The sensor is mounted along the motor windings under the washer and detects the rotation spin speed. The sensors on these units can go bad, causing the error code, and it has been a frequent problem. I would recommend you contact Whirlpool first (due to the unit only being a year old) and see if there is a recall or upgrade on this part. I believe there is. The repair would then be covered by the manufacturer. If I give you the steps to access and/or replace the sensor at this point, you may be voiding any existing warranty you may still have. Some components carry a longer warranty than your normal one year limited warranty from the manufacturer. Something you may consider.

If you have further questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you in some way.

I have whirlpool cabrio top load flashes f then 51

I had the same problem and Whirlpool will not do a recall on these washers. But FINALLY one day I was so tired of it stopping so often in a few minutes that I called Whirlpool and they said that it was a known problem and will be sending someone to replace the curcuit boards at no charge to me.
So get your manual out and call the Whirlpool people so that they can do the same for you!
