Warm to the touch digital timer switch

Warm timer is red flag.
Which timer?
Different timers have different load ratings.
Load rating is usually printed on side of device shown in watts: eg '1000 watts tungsten' means incandescent.
Add up total watts, and compare with load rating on side of timer.
Timers usually have 1 year warranty.
Check for loose connections.
Replace timer.

More details for homeowner:
Timers, switches, outlets should never be warm to the touch.
Circuit breakers should not be warm.
Extension cords should not be warm... exception: small appliance cord but only if small appliance is used short periods such as cooking wok, toaster oven, power saw, vacuum cleaner.
Dimmers are frequently warm to the touch, if the dimmer controls several lights. Check load rating to make sure rating is not exceeded.
TVs, computer, small household transformer etc are usually warm.
None of the above should ever feel Hot.

I have a Amrstrong Astro 25B050S recirculating pump on my 50 gallon State water heater (both installed in 2006). The timer works fine and the I can hear the Astro pump and the pump feels very hot to the...

If the pump is very hot, unplug it.
Heat damages motor coil and indicates that pump is not rotating at correct speed, or not rotating.
Take apart and clean inside pipe with white vinegar or CLR to see if pump rotor can be freed to rotate.
If pump does not rotate after cleaning, then replace pump.

I have a ge digital wall switch mod 15265 My wall box only has a white (hot) and black (neutral) wires When I connect up the wires - black on switch to hot and both red & white on switch to neutral -...

I have test-wired your timer, and many other timers.
Your white and red together are causing the clicking.

Hot from breaker connects to timer-black.
Wire going Load (lights) connects to timer-red
Timer-white wire connects to Neutral inside box.
In your case, you don't have the neutral so connect the timer-white to bare ground wire.

I have a frigidaire dryer gler642as3 model it ran for two hours and didn't stop also when you open the door during the cycle it shuts the drum off but the dryer gets very hot you can't touch it what can it...

Well the timer could be defective. But believe it or not a clogged dryer vent can do some of the same things. Without air flow, the heater will heat, then when it doesn't circulate and and dry clothes, it gets hot and the hi temp overload near heater should turn it off, then when it cools it will start the same cycle over. Make sure you have good air flow coming out of the vent outside. If in doubt disconnect hose from dryer. Make sure to remove any lint. Put a panty hose leg over the hose and try the dryer. If it heats ok now, then you know your vent is clogged (panty hose will keep lint from spraying allover your laundry room)

Intermatic EJ500 gets VERY HOT on metal portion around timer

Sounds like you have too much load. The device is using its heatsinks like they were designed for. To dissipate heat.
