I was updating my PS3 and power went off. It doesn't start anymore, please suggest how to fix the problem.

Try a soft reset:

while the ps3 is off(solid red led) hold down the power button until you hear the SECOND BEEP, quickly release.

That should start the update process over if you're lucky ;)

I turn my ps3 on, and the main menu never shows up. all i see is that wavy thing (that the menu usually shows up over) and nothing happens. then the only way i can turn the system off is by flipping the...

Ok, what you need to do is re-install the system software, I will talk you through it. WARNING! This will erase your save games and other data you have on the PS3!!

Step 1. Turn the PS3 on at the back but leave it in standby mode (red light on)
Step 2. Press and hold the power button. It will beep as soon as you press it, beep 5 seconds later and then once more 5 seconds after that. Release the power button.
Step 3. Press and hold the power button again. It will beep once when you first press it, beep again 5 seconds later and then about another 5 seconds later it will beep twice quickly. When you hear these 2 quick beeps, let go of the power button.
Step 4. The PS3 will start up and ask you to connect a controller via USB and press the PS button. Do this and then move onto the next step.
Step 5. The recovery menu will load. Select option 5 "Restore PS3 System". The console will go through an automated restore sequence and re-write its software. It will then restart and hopefully after you have entered the time, date and username information start normally.

If you need any more help, please reply here.

PS3 Display settings issue

Carry out the following steps to solve your PS3 problem :
Step 1. Turn the PS3 off into standby (red light on)
Step 2. Press and hold the power button. It will beep as soon as you press it and then about 5 seconds later it will beep again. Let go of the power button when you hear this second beep.
Step 3. Wait for your PS3 to start.
This solution basically resets the video output back to standard definition.

PS3 doesn't work with tv anymore

did you move the ps3 while it was on. If you did the reset for AV should repair both the AV problem and your HDMI as well. Shoot me a message back if it works or doesn't.

Thx

My ds wont start up

does your PS3 have good ventilation? that sounds like overheating place it in an open environment but keep it out of extreme temps,If you still have troubles with your PlayStation 3 call 1-800-345-SONY (1-800-345-7669)---usually you can get it to work again by pressing the on and off button repeatedly and in different number of combination’s like holding the power button down for a few seconds, or quickly pressing it sometimes it works after a few tries but sometimes it doesn’t at all. if you do happen to get it to work there is a reset system button

Ps3 freezes before getting to main menu!!

Try Accessing the Ps3 Recovery Menu
Turn off Ps3
Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again
Once the system has been shutdown, re-press your finger until you hear 2 consecutive (quick) beeps
When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button
You will be prompted to plug in your controller via usb and then hit the ps button
The recovery menu will pop up

Recovery menu
* restart system
* restore default settings
* restore file system
*rebuild database
*restore ps3
*system update
Now I was not sure which one to choose. I clicked restart system and that did NOT work so I clicked restore ps3 and lost everything but it DEFINITELY WORKED!!

PS3 Connection to TV problems

so, you tried the Video Reset with your standard av cable hooked up...turn off rear power switch, then back on. Hold front power button to turn unit on for 8 seconds or so, which will reset the video settings....unit will give some double beeps letting u know this was successful. then turn off and on again.
