Question about KitchenAid Superba Architect KSCS25INSS Side by Side Refrigerator

Ice Maker My new Kitchen Aid Superba ice maker has been hooked up to a water line for more than 24 hours. There are only a few cubes of ice in the ice storage bin. I have made sure the ice maker switch has been turned on, but I noticed that there is a red light that flashes next to the switch and I do not understand why. The water dispenser works fine, but don't understand why I don't have a bin full of ice by now. Can you help?

Re: Ice Maker

Sassy, the red led should flash 2x followed by a pause, repeatedly with the door open. If you hold the left side flap down, it should stay on steady. If it does this you know the optics are ok. Sounds like you just hooked it up to water. The ice maker thermostat has to be at least at 17 degrees before it will call for water and then it will have to prime the lines to the ice maker first before filling the mold. The easiest way to reset the icemaker is to unplug the refer for 30 seconds. Other things you want to check are that the ejector blades (blades that push the ice out) are in the 2:00 position. Check to see that the fill tube that fills the mold is not frozen over. I have a feeling that your lines just needed to be primed. Hope this helps you understand this unit a little back.

Ice maker inside kitchen aid fridge not making full cubes

Items to check would be ,
1 Is the filter restricted with sediment in the water?
indicator would be water flow decreased thru door dispenser.
2 Is the tap a line (if used) restricted with mineral deposites where the sleeve pierces the water pipe.
3 is the valve itself restricted with sediment due to not using a filter?
4 a kinked water line (copper) or pinched plastic line could also cause this problem.
eliminate each and you should find the problem.

First make sure your water valve is working . If so , look for fill tube that fills ice maker to be frozen. If it is frozen , unthaw tube. If its not then replace the ice maker.

Ice maker in Kitchen Aid stopped making ice

The ice maker has completely stopped producing ice Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

The ice maker is producing ice poorly When an ice maker is producing ice poorly--when it produces just a few cubes or none, or when the cubes are too small--it's usually because of a clogged water line or a defective water inlet valve.

First, check the water line attached to the back of the refrigerator for good water flow. To do that, first turn off the water supply valve. Then remove the water line from the back of the refrigerator. Next, place the water line into a bucket and momentarily turn the water valve back on to test the flow. If the flow is poor, you need to repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water. If the flow is good, you may have to replace the water inlet valve.

There's an ice- or water-dispensing problem The ice and water-dispensing system of your refrigerator is quite complex. Many components work together to provide the ice and water. Aside from a simple problem of a leaky water tube or a jammed ice chute, most other components are not user serviceable. We suggest that you contact a qualified appliance repair technician for such repairs.

Ice maker is frozen in a kitchen aid side by side

Try pouring HOT water into the ice molds to release the frozen cubes. Hopefully the ice maker will restart the cycle and get back to normal!

Kitchen aid superba fridge - ice maker not working .. water dispencer is

The refrigerator has a duel water valve, one for the ice-maker and one for the water dispenser (if equipped). The valve that the ice-maker relies on may be bad, or it could be the ice-maker itself.
Another thing that could cause it would be the temperatures in the freezer. The ice-maker will not call for water until it reaches under 15 degrees. In addition, check the water tube behind the ice-maker to make sure it is not frozen, blocking more water from entering. The water does not go to the ice-maker or thru the filter unless the ice-maker turns on the water valve.

No Ice From Kitchen Aid

Mark, your water valve has screwed the pooch. Replace it. The part number is 2199838.

What's happening is this... the valve that fills your ice maker is by-passing a small amount of water. This water has to flow through that tube, right? When very small amounts (drop by drop) go through the IM fill tube, they flash freeze. Eventually they (the frozen drops of water) form a big block of ice inside the fill tube. This ice creates a blockage which creates back-pressure whenever the IM "calls" for water. The back pressure eventually blows the tube off of the connection behind the fridge.

You say that this happened over night... no way. If you look closely at the ice cubes that you IM has been making, you'll see that they are hollow. Hollow cubes means that your IM isn't getting enough water... (because the fill tube is blocked).
