Ps3 has a yellow light intermittent red flashing light

Yellow Light of DeathThe "Yellow Light of Death" or YLOD is the common phrase people use to describe the following sequence when they try to turn on their PS3:

Cracked solder can happen when the chips get too hot (RSX most likely) and leads the motherboard to start bending, which may crack the solder. Changing the power supply (lower the average wattage going to the chips to lower the heat) and better thermal compound (heat dissipates faster to the heatsink) may prevent this error from occurring. However, if your PS3 has already had the YLOD, then you can reflow your motherboard every few months to keep it working (but it is not a permanent fix as the YLOD usually comes back).

you probably have the YLOD(yellow light of death). Its an overheating problem. If a yellow light flashes then you have the ylod. To fix this either spend 150 dollars and send your ps3 into sony. Or spend 10 dollars, open up ur ps3 and fix it with a thermal compound where you can find at a Best Buy. If the red light just flashes and no yellow light, leave the ps3 alone, that means its overheated and needs time to cool off.

well yes obviously the flashing red light means that if u do not turn off ur PS3 it will die. but depending on how long u have had ur PS3, it may be becuase the life span is almost over.
if u have not had for a couple years it is most likely a manufacturing error
u should send it in to sony before the warranty is up and have them take a look at it
